Sera didn’t move.

Lana was folded into her like it was instinct—head tucked beneath her chin, breath evening out slowly against her collarbone—and Sera couldn’t bring herself to do anything that might shift the gravity of it.

Instead, she lay there in the hush of her too-big, too-pink bedroom, blinking up at the fairy lights, trying to figure out when exactly her life had cracked open and rearranged itself around this girl.

Because that’s what it felt like.

Like somewhere between a kiss in a fitting room and the way Lana had looked at her when she said show me, the axis had tilted.
And Sera wasn’t just falling—
She was gone.

The scary part wasn’t how fast it happened.
It was how right it felt.

Like she hadn’t been wrong to want this.
Like she hadn’t imagined the way Lana saw her.

A girl without polish.
Without a plan.
Just herself.

When Lana whispered you’re really unfair, Sera smiled, lazy and a little breathless, her voice curling soft around the words.

“Unfair would’ve been not letting you stay.”

She tilted her head enough to brush her lips against Lana’s temple, slow and reverent, like punctuation.

“And I’m not cruel. Not when you sound like that.”

Lana made a quiet, wrecked sound in response—something between a scoff and a sigh—and Sera felt it echo through both of them.

God, the way she fit there—
Tucked against her chest, fingers still tangled somewhere near Sera’s ribs—
It was unreal.

Sera let her hand drift, lazy and aimless, down Lana’s side and back up again. Not teasing. Not suggestive. Just present. Something she never thought she’d crave so much.

She inhaled slow.

Held it.

Then let herself speak.

“I don’t really know what we’re doing,” she said, quieter now. “I just know I don’t want it to stop.”

Her voice cracked, just slightly, but she didn’t pull back from it. Didn’t dress it up with sarcasm or charm.

“I’ve never felt like this with anyone. Not even close. And yeah, I’ll probably overthink every second of it once you leave. That’s just who I am.”

A beat passed. Lana didn’t pull away.

Sera smiled again—crooked and honest—and her thumb brushed a soft arc along Lana’s hip.

“But right now?”
She kissed the top of her head, light as breath.

“Right now, I just want to hold you. And not make it weird.”

Another pause, long and full of electricity. And then, in classic Sera Vale fashion—

“So unless you’re planning to disappear into the night like some hot boutique cryptid, I’m gonna need to see you again.”

She arched a brow, even though Lana couldn’t see it.

“Like… regularly. Consensually. With kissing.”

Her grin softened into something sweeter. Smaller.

“I want this. You. All of it. Even if I don’t know what it looks like yet.”

And maybe it wasn’t perfect.
Maybe it wasn’t polished.

But for once, Sera didn’t want perfect.

She just wanted real.
And Lana Hart, curled into her chest with her breath steady and her body warm against hers, was the realest thing she’d ever known.

Lana didn’t speak at first.

Not because she didn’t want to—God, she wanted to—but because Sera had just said everything Lana hadn’t even let herself think out loud. And now she was lying there, forehead pressed to her collarbone, heartbeat slowing under Sera’s hand, trying to catch up to a moment that had already stolen her breath.

She pulled back slightly—just enough to look up at her. Not dramatic. Just enough to see her. And when she saw the way Sera was watching her—soft, open, all that bite and polish stripped away—Lana felt the words click into place like a secret she’d been keeping even from herself.

“I don’t want it to stop either,” she said quietly. “And I really don’t want to overthink it. But I probably will. So… I guess we’ll be messy together.”

She smiled. A real one. A little crooked at the edges.

Her fingers found Sera’s and laced through them without thinking.

“I haven’t done this before,” she admitted. “Like—been with someone who actually sees me. I didn’t know how much I needed that until you…”

She trailed off, then laughed softly, shaking her head.

“You’re completely unfair,” she added, echoing herself with more clarity this time. “But also really, really good at ruining me.”

Then—more serious now—she squeezed Sera’s hand.

“I don’t know what this is gonna look like either. But if you want to figure it out together—if you’ll let me—I’m in.”

She leaned in and kissed her, soft and slow and sure.

Not a promise.

A beginning.

“And for the record,” she whispered against her lips, “I’m not disappearing anywhere. So you’d better get used to seeing me. Regularly. With kissing. And probably snacks.”

She pressed her forehead to Sera’s again, breathing her in.

“You’re not getting rid of me that easy, Vale.”

And God help her, she meant it. Every word.

Sera couldn’t stop grinning.

Not just because Lana was saying all the right things—though, God, she was—but because for the first time in forever, the world didn’t feel like something she had to survive or control or perform for.

It just felt… good.

She was still buzzing from Lana’s kiss, still flushed from the way she’d said I’m in, when she reached up and cupped her cheek again, thumb brushing the corner of her mouth.

And then—just because she could, because there was no one watching, no cameras recording, no curated image to protect—
Sera kissed her again.

Quick. Warm. Delighted.

A burst of affection she didn’t have to earn.
Didn’t have to apologize for.

Just wanted.

“God,” she whispered against her lips, smiling so hard it almost hurt, “I’m gonna be so annoying now that I’m allowed to kiss you whenever I want.”

She kissed her again.
Then once more for good measure.
Then pulled back with a satisfied little hum, practically glowing.

“I know we just had a spiritual awakening and a very sexy bonding moment,” she added, voice turning playful, “but I’m not above humbling you on Rainbow Road. With snacks.”

She nudged Lana’s hip with hers, then sat up and stretched, hair falling over one shoulder in a tousled wave. The high-waisted shorts shifted on her legs, exposing just enough to still be unfair.

“Stay here,” she said, already sliding off the bed with purpose. “You’re getting out of that skirt. You need something comfier.”

She padded across the room to her closet, yanked open the doors, and disappeared inside for a moment. Muffled rustling followed—hangers clinking, a drawer sliding open—then her voice floated back:

“Cute but cozy, sexy but sleepover-coded… yeah, I got you.”

When she reemerged, she was holding one of her favorite oversized graphic tees—worn soft from too many washes, printed with a faded retro cherry design—and a pair of lavender sleep shorts with little frilly edges and a satin bow.

Sera tossed them onto the bed beside Lana, one brow arching.

“Wardrobe upgrade. Approved for couch domination and celebratory snacks. You're welcome.”

She plopped down beside her again, folding her legs beneath her and reaching for her phone. “Thai food or popcorn and sugar rush? I’m feeling like we need options. Big night. Big emotions. Big gay Mario Kart stakes.”

And just like that, the heat softened into something fizzy and golden.

Sera felt it settle in her chest as she glanced over at Lana again—this beautiful, wrecked, wonderful girl stretched across her bed, messing up the sheets in the best way.

She didn’t know what came next.

But for the first time, she couldn’t wait to find out.

Lana watched Sera move across the room like she owned the air in it.
Which, to be fair, she kind of did.

The glow of the fairy lights hit her just right—barefoot in sleep-shorts, hair a beautiful tangle, absolutely beaming like she’d won something important. And maybe she had.

Lana.

She sat up slowly, still a little floaty, like her limbs hadn’t quite downloaded gravity again. Her fingers brushed the soft fabric of the sleepwear Sera had tossed beside her, and she let out a quiet laugh, shaking her head.

“Okay,” she called toward the closet, “but I need you to know this is deeply manipulative.”

She climbed off the bed with all the grace of a post-revelation, emotionally obliterated sapphic. “Pampered. Seduced. Spiritually assassinated. It’s all sounding pretty similar from over here.”

She tugged off her skirt and slipped into the sleep shorts, trying not to think too hard about the fact that she was now wearing Sera Vale’s clothes. That was how fanfics started. That was how feelings won.

The shirt hung off her shoulder like it had been made to. Which it hadn’t. Which made it worse.

She padded barefoot toward the mirror, gave herself one glance, and groaned.

“Oh no,” she said, turning dramatically back toward the bed. “I’m adorable. This is a trap.”

Sera was already back on the mattress, scrolling through her phone like she hadn’t just orchestrated Lana’s complete emotional downfall.

Lana narrowed her eyes and climbed back onto the bed with a quiet, delighted scoff.

“You’re literally weaponizing your wardrobe.”

A single glance from Sera said it all. Smug. Victorious. Completely unrepentant.

Sera tapped something into her phone like she was filing that fact away for future use.

Lana watched her for a second longer—her smile softening as the quiet returned.

She leaned over, gently knocked her knee against Sera’s.

“Hey.”

Sera looked up, and Lana’s voice dropped, still teasing, but sincere underneath.

“You know you’re kind of… ruining me, right?”

That look again—just a flicker, like Sera was holding her breath without meaning to.

“In, like, the best way,” she added quickly. “Just—no one’s ever taken care of me like this and then also offered me curry and intentional spooning. So, yeah. I’m overwhelmed. Kindly shut up and take the compliment.”

She reached for a pillow and tossed it, light and easy.

“Now gimme that menu. If I’m going down emotionally, I’m at least going down with spring rolls.”

Sera barely held back a smile—barely.

Because Lana? In her sleep shorts and cherry tee, grumbling about being adorable like it was a crime punishable by death? That was lethal. Unfair. Unholy.

And also—

God, she was so gone for her.

She looked back down at her phone quickly, not to answer a text, not to check a notification, but because if she looked at Lana for one second longer she was pretty sure her heart would combust in real time. She needed the screen. The glow. The distraction.

Because Lana Hart was across from her, wearing her clothes, curled up on her bed, throwing compliments like they were grenades, and Sera—Sera Vale, who never lost her cool—was seconds away from actually melting.

She swiped through the Thai menu like it was a coping mechanism.

“I’m not ruining you,” she said finally, her voice casual but too soft to be flippant. “I’m just leveling the playing field.”

She glanced up then, just long enough to catch Lana watching her with that look again—eyes soft, smile hidden at the corners of her mouth like a secret she didn’t mind being found out.

Sera’s throat tightened.
She smiled through it.

“And I’m absolutely not apologizing for the spooning offer. That’s elite-level comfort. That’s love language tier.”

With that, she turned the phone around and held it out to Lana with all the grace and flair of someone offering a royal scroll.

“Here,” she said, her voice dropping just enough to flirt around the edges again, “I’m letting you choose the snacks because I’m generous and magnanimous. And because I plan to destroy you in Mario Kart and don’t want to hear any complaints about morale being low due to hunger.”

She nudged the phone into Lana’s hands, her knee still pressed lightly to hers.

“And for the record,” Sera added, smirk tugging just a little too wide to be innocent, “I don’t play dirty. I play to win.”

She paused, eyes dancing.

“But if that happens to include tactical use of cherry-print sleepwear and hand-fed spring rolls… well. That’s just strategy.”

And for a moment—amid the soft glow of fairy lights, the rustle of blankets, and the warmth still lingering in the space between them—Sera Vale let herself be happy.

Really, stupidly, unapologetically happy.

Because somehow, against all odds, it wasn’t just her winning.

It felt like they both were.

Lana couldn’t even pretend to be unaffected.

Not when Sera said things like love language tier with a completely straight face.
Not when she handed over the phone like it was some sacred scroll of snack diplomacy.
And definitely not when she smirked like that—like she knew exactly what she was doing.

Because Sera Vale was currently sitting across from her in soft shorts and post-glow confidence, looking unreasonably pleased with herself, and Lana—

Lana was wrecked.
Utterly.
Publicly.
Joyfully.

She took the phone with both hands, mostly because she wasn’t convinced her fingers wouldn’t fumble it otherwise. Her pulse was doing backflips. Her face was too warm. Her brain was somewhere near the floor.

“Oh,” she said dryly, flipping through the menu as if she weren’t seconds from short-circuiting. “So this is what it’s like being seduced by a girl with a snack strategy and a god complex.”

She didn’t look up.
Couldn’t.
Not yet.

“I get it now. I get the hype.”

She selected two spring rolls and something spicy and chaotic—because that’s what she was now, apparently—and passed the phone back with the grace of someone actively holding herself together by a thread.

“You’re impossible,” she muttered, shaking her head as she reached for the nearest pillow and hugged it to her chest. “And worse—you know you’re impossible. And you’re thriving in it.”

She peeked over the pillow.
Saw that smirk still lingering on Sera’s lips.
Felt her whole chest bloom.

“I’m not apologizing if I get distracted mid-race and drive off the edge of Rainbow Road,” she added, voice a little lower now, a little more honest. “It’s hard to concentrate when you’re sitting there looking like a rom-com fever dream with a competitive streak.”

Then, quieter—

“And if you feed me a spring roll mid-game, I’m not responsible for what I confess on the spot.”

She bit her lip, laughing softly into the pillow.

Because it was ridiculous.
And terrifying.
And so, so good.

Being wanted like this.
Wanting back without hesitation.

She didn’t know what they were yet.

But in that moment—wrapped in Sera’s clothes, full of adrenaline and heat and comfort and giddiness—Lana didn’t need a label.

She just needed this.

And Sera Vale, damn her, was giving it to her without asking for anything in return.

Sera was, in a word, delighted.

Not just because Lana was blushing over spring rolls and ducking behind pillows like some sapphic Greco-Roman statue of emotional defeat (though that was deeply satisfying). Not even because she’d successfully weaponized the concept of leftovers into foreplay.

No—Sera was delighted because this?
This was everything she’d secretly dreamed about and never believed she’d get to keep.

Lana, on her bed, in her clothes, talking about Rainbow Road like it was a confessional booth.

God, it was heaven.

She took the phone back from Lana with exaggerated care, like it was a live grenade wrapped in takeout menus and lesbian longing, and flicked through the rest of the order with practiced ease.

“Okay,” she said, tapping her screen, “so I’m getting us the curry, dumplings, and one extra mango sticky rice because I don’t believe in rationing joy.”

She added another dish. Then another.

And then—almost too casually—
“Also, the garlic noodles. For tomorrow. Or two a.m. Or whenever you decide to kiss me again and I lose the will to function.”

Her voice barely wavered.
Barely.

Because Lana was looking at her like a rom-com daydream with teeth, and Sera could feel the way her heart did a ridiculous little spin every time their knees brushed under the sheets.

She confirmed the order and tossed her phone aside like she hadn’t just bought a love-letter in takeout form.

“The thing is,” she said, tucking one arm behind her head and stretching out beside Lana with entirely too much nonchalance, “my parents aren’t back until next week. Which means you’re free to stay as long as you want.”

A pause.

Then, with a smirk so sweet it should’ve been illegal:
“And I’m not above using leftovers to bribe you into staying longer.”

She glanced over, caught the way Lana was still biting her lip—still flushed and folded around that pillow like it might protect her from whatever spell Sera was casting—and softened a little.

Sera reached over, fingers brushing Lana’s bare knee, warm and steady.

“I’m not expecting anything,” she added, her voice gentler now, low like it was just for them. “But just so you know… I’m not planning on letting this be a one-night thing.”

She smiled—smaller this time. Sweeter.

“I want to fall asleep next to you in my dumb cherry t-shirt and wake up to you stealing all my covers. I want to lose to you on purpose once and then pretend I didn’t. I want to watch you try to look unimpressed while I spoon dumplings into your mouth and call it a date.”

She leaned closer, bumping Lana’s shoulder lightly.

“I just… want you here. However long you want to be.”

And for once, there was no mask behind it.

No teasing. No show.

Just Sera.

Unwrapped.
Unfiltered.
Absolutely glowing with the joy of being wanted, and the even wilder joy of wanting back.

Because yeah, Lana played dirty.

But Sera?
She played to win.

And right now, tangled in pillows and blushes and way too much Thai food on the way, she felt like they both were.

Lana was ruined.

Absolutely, irrevocably, unironically ruined.

Because Sera Vale—gorgeous, glittering, deeply dangerous Sera Vale—had just declared mango sticky rice an act of affection and followed it up with “I want you here” like it was the most casual thing in the world.

Like she hadn’t just short-circuited every working thought in Lana’s head.

Like that wasn’t a confession.

Lana didn’t move at first. She was still tucked behind the pillow, holding it like a shield she absolutely did not need, heart thudding so hard it might’ve been audible. Her face was on fire. Her chest ached in that very specific, very annoying way it did when someone said something that mattered.

And Sera kept talking—so soft, so sure, like she wasn’t breaking Lana open sentence by sentence.

Like she didn’t know she already had.

“You’re dangerous,” Lana said finally, her voice rougher than she meant it to be. She dropped the pillow halfway through the sentence and sat up straighter, because if she was going to melt into a puddle she was at least going to look her in the eye while doing it.

“You know that, right? You just—say things like that. And then you look at me like I’m supposed to keep breathing normally.”

She blinked, trying to get her mouth to work faster than her heart.

“Like, I was barely holding it together when you offered me noodles. And now you’re over here talking about sleepovers and falling asleep in cherry t-shirts like—like it’s nothing. Like it’s not completely undoing me in real time.”

Sera opened her mouth—probably to smirk, probably to be the smug menace she was—but Lana leaned in first, pressing her hand to the side of her face. Not rough. Not urgent. Just there.

Just steady.

“I want to be here,” she said, quiet but sharp-edged with truth. “I want all of that. The dumplings. The games. The cover-stealing. You.”

A breath.

“I don’t want to leave. And not just tonight.”

She could feel her heart thudding against her ribs like it wanted to be heard, and maybe it was. Maybe Sera could already feel it under her palm, where Lana hadn’t moved her hand.

“I’m not afraid of this,” Lana said. “Of you.”

Then, because it was still her, and her feelings were trying to break the sound barrier—

“But just so we’re clear, if you do lose to me on purpose, I’m absolutely calling you out. And you’ll be feeding me dumplings to recover from the shame.”

She leaned in and kissed her. Sweet, but grounded. No performance. No teasing.

Just want.

Just yes.

Just them.

And when she pulled back, she added, “And I’m totally stealing your covers. But I’ll pretend to feel bad about it if you ask nicely.”

Then she laughed, curling into Sera’s side like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Because it was.

Sera Vale had no defenses left.

None.

Not after that.

Not after Lana, flushed and breathless, had leaned in with a voice full of trembling truth and said I want to be here. Not just for the night. Not just for the moment.

For her.

For all of it.

The dumplings.
The cover-stealing.
The parts of Sera she wasn’t even used to offering, and the ones she’d always hidden behind lip gloss and perfect posture.

She wanted it all.

Sera didn’t even try to hide the way her mouth softened, the way her whole body leaned into Lana’s like it had been waiting for the permission to do so. Like it had always known this shape, this weight, this closeness.

God, she was so warm.
So close.
So hers.

And Sera wasn’t scared.
Not anymore.

She’d spent so long terrified of what people would say—of what her parents would think—if they ever saw her like this. Soft. Honest. Wrapped around another girl like it was the most natural thing in the world.

But none of that mattered now.

Not when Lana was curled into her side, laughing about cover theft and pretending not to be a walking, talking emotional earthquake.

Not when Sera had never felt more like herself in her entire life.

“I’m not gonna ask nicely,” Sera said eventually, voice lazy and warm against Lana’s hair. “I’m gonna guilt-trip you with facts about how your foot is literally on my thigh and I’m freezing, and then make you spoon me until I stop complaining.”

She tilted her chin down to press a kiss into Lana’s curls, her arm winding snug around her waist like she had no intention of letting her go.

“Also, you’re absolutely not allowed to be this smug and this sweet at the same time. It’s criminal. I should report you.”

She felt Lana smile against her neck and nearly sighed from how good it felt—how right.

Sera let the silence stretch for a moment, just them and the twinkle lights and the quiet promise of everything that had changed between them without either of them needing to say it outright.

Then she murmured, almost to herself, “You feel like home, you know that?”

She didn’t mean to say it. Not out loud. Not yet.

But she didn’t take it back.

Didn’t flinch.

Because it was true.

Lana shifted just enough to look up at her, and Sera kissed her again—slow and certain, with a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth like she still couldn’t believe she was allowed to do this now.

Kiss her just because she wanted to.

When they pulled apart, she added—quiet and wicked and entirely Sera:

“I’m still kicking your ass on Rainbow Road, though. I may be soft now, but I’m not that soft.”

She grinned, eyes sparkling.

“And for the record? I’m glad you’re staying. Like, really glad. You’re gonna hate how aggressively affectionate I get in the mornings.”

She squeezed her gently, pressing her face into Lana’s shoulder like she wasn’t planning to move for a while.

Because she wasn’t.

She’d already spent years trying to make things work with people who didn’t see her.

And now?
Now she had a girl who curled into her like a second skin and said I’m not afraid of you.

Sera Vale felt like she was finally winning the kind of game that actually mattered.

And for once, she didn’t feel like she had to apologize for it.

Lana didn’t move.
Didn’t breathe right.
Didn’t know how to hold everything she was suddenly feeling without letting it spill straight out of her mouth.

Because that?

That was it. That was the moment.
The one you didn’t realize you’d been waiting for until someone whispered you feel like home into your hair like it wasn’t even meant to be heard—but was.
God, was it ever.

Her entire chest tightened in that electric, unbearable, beautiful way.
Not because she was scared.

Because she wasn’t.
Not even a little.

Just full.

So full of Sera’s voice in her ear and the weight of her arm around her waist and the way she didn’t hesitate—not once—to say what she meant.

Not flirty.
Not rehearsed.
Just real.

And Lana had no defenses either.

She turned in Sera’s arms, slow and deliberate, tucking one leg over hers and sliding her hand up her side until her fingers hooked into the hem of that stupid cherry t-shirt like an anchor.

Then she looked at her.
Really looked at her.

Sera’s cheeks were flushed. Her eyes were too bright. Her smile was still half-wicked, like she was daring Lana to call her on the fact that she’d just poured her heart out and followed it with a Mario Kart threat.

And God, Lana loved her for it.

“You’re infuriating,” she said, voice soft and raspy, but with a grin she couldn’t fight off. “You say something like you feel like home and then immediately promise to emotionally destroy me over a rainbow-colored death trap.”

She leaned in, nose brushing against Sera’s.

“You’re lucky I like you,” she whispered. “Because I’m pretty sure you’re the most dangerous combination of soft and chaotic I’ve ever met.”

She kissed her once—light, lingering.

Then pulled back just enough to rest their foreheads together.

“I mean it,” Lana said, quieter now. “I want to wake up to this. To you. Cranky, affectionate, aggressively clingy—you can have all the blankets and all the dumplings and I’ll still stay.”

Her hand tightened slightly in the hem of Sera’s shirt, grounding herself.

“I spent so long convincing myself that wanting someone like this was a liability,” she admitted, “and now all I can think is how stupid I would’ve been to walk away from this.”

She gave her a half-smile, gentle and raw.

“So yeah. You win. Again.”

Her fingers trailed up to Sera’s jaw, her thumb brushing beneath her chin like she was still getting used to the fact that she was allowed to touch her this way.

“I’m in,” she whispered. “For whatever this is. For wherever it goes.”

Then, as if her heart couldn’t help itself—

“But if you do win Rainbow Road, you’re still not getting the last mango sticky rice.”

A beat.
A smirk.

“There are boundaries.”
