It hit her like a wave.

Not his kiss—not the one that lingered on her lips like a vow already kept.

Not the warmth of his hand still covering hers, right where her heart had answered him without a word.

It was that French.

His French.

The way it sounded rougher in his throat, lower, like reverence worn raw. The way it curled against her ear like a secret she didn’t know she’d been waiting for. The way it made her feel everything she usually made him feel when she gave in and let the Italian slip between her teeth.

It wrecked her in the gentlest way.

Made her chest ache. Made her grin.

Made her love him more.

She let the silence hold for a beat—just long enough to memorize it. Let her thumb graze the hollow beneath his jaw, a soft smile playing on her lips now, less wicked than usual, but still entirely her.

“Careful,” she whispered, brushing her nose against his. “If you keep speaking French like that, I might fall in love with you all over again.”

And maybe she already had.

Every time.

Every look.

Every goddamn day.

She kissed him once more—slower this time. Less fire, more gratitude. Less ache, more home.

The kind of kiss that said thank you for letting me be yours.

For never making me question it.

She pulled back just enough to smirk, voice lazy and low and still catching its breath.

“You know…” she murmured, drawing patterns on his chest with the tip of one finger, “I’m starting to think midnight moonlight swims should be a regular thing.”

A soft laugh slipped out of her, quieter than usual. Warmer.

She tipped her head to the side, eyeing him like he was a treasure she got to tease and keep in the same breath.

“But,” she added, lifting a brow, “we should probably rinse off before I make you mine again on the tile.”

There was no threat in it.

Just a promise.

A familiar glint behind softer eyes.

She kissed him once more—because she could, because she wanted to, because how could she not?—and then pulled gently on his hand, leading him out of the water like a siren who no longer needed to lure him anywhere.

He followed her now.

Every time.

“Come on, mon cœur,” she said, glancing back at him with something that almost looked like peace. “We’ve got real life waiting for us in the morning.”

Her fingers stayed laced with his.

They didn’t need to talk about what that meant—how real life could never scare her as long as she had this. As long as she had him.

And when the bathroom light clicked on and the steam began to rise and her body found his again beneath the spray, it wasn’t about control or chaos anymore.

It was about belonging.

And when they climbed into bed—damp hair, clean skin, limbs tangled beneath too many sheets—it wasn’t silence that followed.

It was the knowing.

The kind that didn’t need to be said out loud.

The kind that just was.

Because in every life, in every world, in every breathless moment that dared to exist between dusk and dawn—

She was his.

And he was already home.

Of course she wrecked him.

Of course she brought him to his knees without even trying—without a single command or tease or tilt of her chin. Just with that look. That truth. That goddamn softness she never gave anyone else.

Not the girl the world thought they knew.

The one she gave only to him.

She said mon cœur and Nico felt it like lightning in his chest—silent, stunning, soul-deep. Her heart. She’d called him her heart. And it didn’t feel like a metaphor. It felt like the bones of who she was had finally cracked open just wide enough for him to crawl inside and stay.

And fuck, he would.

He wanted to.

Every breath, every second, every life.

His voice caught in his throat, wrecked and reverent. He touched her like she might vanish if he moved too fast—fingertips dragging down her spine, slow and trembling, like he was memorizing the shape of her grief and grace all at once.

“I see you,” he whispered, forehead pressed to hers. “Every part. Every scar you never show. Every softness you think you’ve buried too deep.”

He brushed his knuckles down her cheek, catching the tear she hadn’t tried to hide.

“And I’m not afraid of any of it.”

His voice broke, but he didn’t look away. Didn’t flinch.

“You said you don’t want kingdoms,” he murmured, lips brushing her temple. “But you’ve already built one here. In me.”

A shaky breath.

And then—

“You’ve ruined me for anything less than this.”

He kissed her again—tender this time. Almost shy, as if he couldn’t believe he got to. As if this version of her—raw, breathless, glowing from within—might be a dream he hadn’t earned yet.

But she was real.

And he was hers.

“Your laugh is my favorite sound,” he added softly, half a smile ghosting across his lips. “But your silence? The kind you trust me enough to share? That’s what undoes me.”

His hand slid to her waist beneath the water. Possessive. Protective.

“And je t’aime, Lilith,” he said, voice low and clear, with no hesitation now. “In every language. In every breath. In every version of this world.”

He kissed her shoulder. Her neck. Her smile.

And when she pulled him from the pool like a queen done with ceremony, Nico followed. Not because he had to. Not because he was enchanted.

Because he chose her.

And when her fingers laced through his again, leading him toward the light and the ordinary and the world waiting on the other side of night?

He didn’t look back.

He didn’t have to.

Because home was already in his hands.

And her name was everything he’d ever needed to say.

The house felt too big without him.

It always did when their lives spiraled into different cities, different lights, different stages. She’d grown used to the rhythm—her flights, his interviews, her rehearsals, his late-night sessions. The text messages slipped between time zones like half-formed confessions, the FaceTime calls ending too quickly when one of them had to slip back into the spotlight. But now—finally—tonight, the quiet belonged to them again.

And she wasn’t wasting it.

The storm had already begun long before he stepped through the door. Candles burned low in the corners, their shadows swaying across the walls in lazy arcs. The faint hum of the city seeped in through the cracked window, blending with the silk of her own breath. She curled her fingers around the collar of his shirt where it hung loose against her body, swallowing her in fabric but baring everything else. Nothing underneath. Just the weight of him clinging to cotton, the lingering trace of his cologne.

Her legs stretched across the sofa, one bent just enough to make the hem ride higher on her thigh. She tilted her head against the cushion, hair loose, lips parted as if she’d been caught mid-thought. The glass of red wine on the table had barely been touched. She wanted to taste something else first.

Every tick of the clock wound her tighter. Every sound outside had her half-sure it was him. And when it finally was—keys against the lock, the familiar grind of metal—her pulse stuttered. The air seemed to thicken, like the room itself was holding its breath, waiting for the moment he’d step inside and see her like this.

Waiting for the look she knew would wreck him.

Because this wasn’t just lingerie, wasn’t just skin. This was a declaration. After weeks of distance, of cameras and strangers and constant motion, she was giving him the one thing no one else got—herself, undone and waiting, ready to burn the night down to ash if it meant reminding him that he was hers.

Nico stepped through the door and nearly staggered at the sight of her.

Not because she was in his shirt—though God, that alone was enough to undo him—but because of everything else. The silence. The stillness. The invitation threaded through the way her legs stretched across the couch, the candlelight dancing against her bare skin, the wine glass untouched like she’d been waiting for something better.

Waiting for him.

The door clicked shut behind him, but the noise stayed outside. In here, there was only her. Only this.

And he didn’t speak.

Couldn’t.

Not when the breath in his lungs had turned to heat. Not when every inch of him felt like it was already being pulled to her—heart first, soul second, body last and barely holding on.

She didn’t move.

Didn’t smile. Didn’t pose.

She just looked at him like she already knew what he’d do next.

And he did.

He crossed the room slow, reverent. Like she was something holy. Like this was the altar he’d been crawling toward through every interview, every tour stop, every lonely hotel bed that didn’t smell like her.

By the time he reached her, his hands were shaking.

Not from nerves.

From need.

From weeks of being good. Professional. Patient.

From holding back everything he only ever wanted to give her.

He knelt down first.

Because that’s what you do when you come home to something sacred.

He didn’t speak. He just pressed his forehead against her knee, lips ghosting over skin like prayer. Fingers curling gently around her calf like maybe if he held her soft enough, she wouldn’t disappear.

And then he looked up.

And the way she looked back?

It leveled him.

She was everything.

His gravity. His undoing. His forever.

And without a word, Nico Romano climbed into her arms like they were his whole world.

Because they were.

And this time, he wasn’t leaving.

She heard the door before she saw him.

The scrape of the lock, the muted click as it swung shut, and then—him. Nico Romano filling the threshold like a force she’d been aching for, like the gravity she’d been waiting to return.

And God, the way he looked at her.

Like she was a vision he’d conjured in every hotel bed, every lonely backstage room. Like the candles had been lit only for this—the chance to see her draped in his shirt and nothing else, the fabric slipping against her bare skin like it already knew who it belonged to.

She didn’t move. Didn’t dare.

Because that was the point.

This wasn’t a performance, not really. This was hers. His. Them. No crowd to entertain, no stage lights to swallow her whole. Just the two of them, finally breathing the same air again.

And when he crossed the room—slow, reverent, undone—she felt it in every inch of her. Her pulse thrumming steady and hot beneath her skin. Her fingers flexing against the cushions to keep from reaching out too soon.

By the time he sank to his knees, she thought her heart might actually crack.

“Mi amore,” she whispered, the words low, velvet, curling out of her throat like smoke. Her hand slipped to his hair, fingers threading through it as his forehead pressed against her knee. His lips brushed her skin like prayer, and she let him linger there because she wanted him to. Because she’d missed him with the kind of hunger that turned into reverence when you finally got it back.

When he looked up, her breath caught.

God help her, she loved him.

She didn’t say it—she never had to. The way she guided his mouth higher with the slow drag of her fingers said it for her. The way she leaned down, her lips brushing his temple, her voice molten against his ear:

“You came home to me.”

And when he finally climbed into her arms, she welcomed him without hesitation. Her legs parted easily, wrapping around him, pulling him in until there wasn’t an inch left between them. His weight pressed her into the couch, and still she pulled tighter, greedy for the heat of him, for the taste of him.

Her mouth found his jaw, then his lips, slow and claiming. Not rushed, not desperate—no, this was deeper. This was two storms colliding and choosing not to destroy each other. This was hers.

When she pulled back, she let her smile ghost across his mouth. Cool. Dangerous. Loving.

“Next time,” she murmured, her voice rough with want, “you don’t make me wait so long.”

And then she kissed him again, slower this time, as if sealing the promise herself.

She didn’t have to say a word.

Not in that moment. Not in any of them.

Because Nico had always known the difference between performance and truth—and this? Her silence. Her eyes. Her body waiting like an answered prayer wrapped in candlelight and cotton?

That was the truth.

His truth.

And fuck, if it didn’t unravel him.

He saw the way the city touched her skin through the open window. Saw the way his shirt hung on her frame like a claim she wasn’t afraid to make anymore. The curve of her legs. The tension in her fingers. The wine she hadn’t touched because she’d been waiting for something else.

For him.

For them.

It hit him like a freight train. The weight of being hers. The privilege of being let in. Because it wasn’t just sex. It wasn’t even just love. It was surrender. Hers, and his, braided together in every breathless moment between tour dates and trauma and things they still didn’t say out loud.

He crossed the room slowly—because if he rushed, he’d ruin it. And God, he didn’t want to ruin anything. Not her. Not this.

When he reached her, he didn’t touch. Not at first.

He just looked.

At the mouth that whispered vows and curses with equal heat. At the hands that had stitched him back together without ever asking him to bleed for it. At the woman who wore both his shirt and his soul like they belonged to her—and made him believe it was true.

He exhaled like he’d been holding his breath for weeks.

Then he knelt.

Not to worship her, though he could. God, he would. But because she was home. And he needed to feel her from the ground up.

He pressed his lips to her knee, then her thigh, then the inside of her wrist like he was mapping his way back to himself.

And when he finally looked up, eyes storm-wrecked and steady, he spoke—low and raw:

“You make me want to be better,” he whispered. “Not different. Not fixed. Just… more. Because of you.”

His hands found her hips, grounding him there.

“You’re it, Emilia. My sin. My grace. My goddamn reason.”

He stood then, slow, letting his hands trail the sides of her thighs like they were scripture.

And when he leaned in—forehead to hers, breath shared—his voice broke just slightly:

“Every night without you felt wrong.”

A pause.

“But this?” He kissed her like confession. Like covenant. Like home. “This is right.”

He didn’t ask for permission when he scooped her into his arms.

Didn’t hesitate when he walked them to the bedroom.

Didn’t flinch when she wrapped around him like something inevitable.

He just breathed her in—salt and silk and safety—and said the only thing that had ever felt permanent.

“I’m yours.”

And this time?

He meant it like a promise.

Not the kind you whisper between verses or forget after the lights go down.

The kind you build forever on.

He carried her like she weighed nothing—like the miles, the weeks, the endless stages and cameras had been leading to this exact moment.

And God, she let him.

Her head tipped back, hair brushing against his arm, lips curved in the kind of smile that belonged only to him. That dangerous, knowing curl that said she wasn’t just surrendering—she was choosing. Every time.

“You’re mine,” she murmured against his jaw, the words silk and smoke, equal parts claim and vow. Her teeth grazed his skin just beneath his ear, a soft sting followed by the warmth of her mouth. “You always were, Nico. Even when you weren’t here.”

She felt the tremor run through him at that—felt it in the way his arms tightened, in the way his breath faltered against her hair.

And oh, she loved it.

Loved the way she could undo him with nothing more than truth. Loved the way his body confessed everything he couldn’t hide.

When he set her down on the bed, she leaned back on her elbows, letting the shirt slide higher along her thighs, watching him with hooded eyes. Not rushing. Not teasing. Just being. Cool, languid, utterly certain in the way only she could be.

“You think I don’t know?” Her voice was low, sultry, wrapping around the space between them. “Every city. Every night. I felt it too. Wrong without you. Empty without you.”

Her fingers toyed with the hem of his shirt where it hung on her body—his shirt, her skin, their history stitched into the seams.

“But this?” She tilted her chin, eyes dragging over him slow, deliberate, like she was memorizing him all over again. “This has always been right.”

She reached for him then, pulling him down until his weight pressed into her, until her lips brushed his once, twice—teasing—before deepening the kiss. It wasn’t frantic. It wasn’t desperate.

It was possession. Worship. A promise written in mouths and breath and skin.

When she finally broke away, her smile was sharp but soft, dangerous but devoted, every contradiction that was her.

“Forever isn’t long enough,” she whispered, her thumb brushing the edge of his jaw.

And then she kissed him again, slower this time, like sealing eternity into the dark.

Nico didn’t speak at first.

Didn’t need to.

Because the second her voice wrapped around his name — “You always were, Nico. Even when you weren’t here” — something cracked wide open in his chest.

And when she leaned back like that — bare legs, his shirt, that goddamn look in her eyes — he nearly lost it.

He moved slow.

Like she was a painting he wasn’t supposed to touch but would ruin himself to feel anyway. Like everything sacred in him had already decided she was worth the fire.

“Emilia…”

It came out rough. Hoarse. The kind of voice a man used when he’d been dreaming of something for weeks and was finally close enough to taste it.

He knelt on the bed beside her, one hand brushing up her thigh — not greedy, not rushed. Just anchored. Like he had to memorize her again. Like part of him still didn’t believe she was real.

“You don’t get it,” he murmured, eyes fixed on hers like they were scripture. “You think this is right? This is everything. Every show, every room, every night I wasn’t with you — it felt like starving.”

His fingers slid under the hem of the shirt. Slow. Intentional. Reverent.

“I don’t just miss you, Emilia. I ache for you. Constantly. Even in my own skin. Because it doesn’t feel like mine unless you’re under it.”

He bent forward, kissed her thigh once. Then higher. Then again.

“You say I’m yours,” he whispered, voice wrecked now, trembling just enough to make her feel it, “but fuck, baby, I’ve been yours since the day you looked at me like I was more than a stage name.”

He climbed over her, pressing her back into the mattress, their chests brushing, his forehead against hers.

His mouth hovered over hers — but didn’t take. Not yet.

“This isn’t just sex,” he said, lower now. “This is me choosing you. Again. Every day. Even when it’s hard. Especially then.”

A pause. Then a grin — sharp, sinful, soft only for her.

“I’m not your husband, Emilia. Not yet.”

His lips ghosted hers.

“But I’ll be the man who makes sure you never doubt you’re loved. Not one night. Not one second.”

And when he finally kissed her again — deep, deliberate, devastating — it wasn’t a promise sealed.

It was a preview of the one still coming.

God, he wrecked her when he was like this.

Starved. Raw. Reverent.

Every word from his lips — confession, devotion, surrender — poured straight into her veins like fuel. Because that was the secret, wasn’t it? She was addicted to the way he worshipped her. To the way he made her feel like a goddess draped in silk and sin. And yes — it turned her on. More than she’d ever admit out loud.

Her Nico. The “starved artist,” feeding on her like she was salvation.

And she was.

Her laugh came low and dark against his mouth, curling around the kiss he tried to hold back. “You ache for me?” she purred, her nails sliding slow and deliberate down the back of his neck. “Good. Because I crave it. I crave this—” her hips rolled up to meet him, unhurried, sensual, the thin cotton of his shirt rising higher with every brush of skin, “—the way you look at me like I’m the only thing that exists. Like I’m your muse, your goddess, your undoing.”

Her lips found his jaw, trailing down to his throat, biting just enough to make him groan. She lingered there, tasting the salt of his skin, before dragging her tongue across the mark. “You’re mine, Nico. My sin. My salvation. And don’t you dare forget it.”

She shifted beneath him, legs wrapping around his waist, pulling him deeper against her. His breath stuttered, his body trembling with that barely leashed control she loved to break. She smiled against his mouth when she kissed him — slow, deep, drugging — the kind of kiss that wasn’t just lips, but language. Her whole body speaking: I want you. I missed you. I own you.

“Not just sex?” she echoed, her voice a molten whisper as her fingers slipped beneath his shirt now, dragging her nails over his chest, making him shudder. Her smile curved wicked and soft all at once. “You’re right. It’s more. Always has been. Always will be.”

Her eyes locked on his, sharp and sensual, her tone equal parts sultry threat and vow. “But that doesn’t mean I’m letting you sleep tonight.”

And then she rolled her hips against him again — slow, deliberate, sinful — sealing the promise with a kiss that was all heat, all hunger, all love.

Nico couldn’t breathe.

Couldn’t think.

Could barely hold himself together beneath the gravity of her — this woman, this wildfire, this fucking miracle wrapped in his shirt and nothing else, curling around him like sin incarnate and salvation in skin.

God help him, he lived for this.

For her.

Every word she spoke landed like scripture against his ribs. And when she laughed — that low, wicked sound brushing his mouth like a dare — he swore his soul bent toward her like it was created for this. For her hips arching. Her hands clawing. Her voice turning him to ash and honey in the same goddamn breath.

“You crave it?” he rasped, voice gone rough, wrecked, ruined. “Baby, I burn for it.”

His hand slid up her thigh, slow and reverent, curling over the curve of her hip like he was praying with his palms instead of his mouth. “You are the only thing that’s ever tasted like truth. Like home.”

And then she moved — God, she moved — and he felt the last of his restraint go up in flames.

Her nails down his back? Her teeth at his throat?

She could ask him to die, and he’d do it smiling.

“I know you own me,” he groaned, dragging his lips across her jaw, her throat, the hollow between her breasts. “You don’t even have to say it. My heart beats in your goddamn rhythm. I’m nothing if I’m not yours.”

He kissed his way lower — slow, worshipful — hands parting the fabric that separated her from his mouth, from his devotion, from the altar he’d build with every inch of her body.

“You call me your sin?” he whispered, voice trembling with heat and awe. “You’re the religion, Emilia. I’ve been on my knees since the day I met you. Don’t you ever doubt it.”

He kissed her again — lower this time. Longer. Like every flick of his tongue was a hymn. Every moan he pulled from her a prayer.

And when she threatened no sleep?

Nico grinned, breathless, shaking, starving.

“Good,” he whispered, dragging his mouth back up her body, tasting devotion in every kiss. “Because I don’t want to rest, baby. I want to worship. I want to spend the whole fucking night showing you that you’re everything I write for. Sing for. Breathe for.”

His eyes locked on hers, pupils blown, mouth swollen, his voice barely human anymore.

“You’re not just my muse, Emilia. You’re the fire in my blood. The ink in my veins. The pulse in every song I’ll ever sing.”

A kiss — brutal, soft, infinite.

“And tonight?” he growled, hands sliding to her thighs, parting her like scripture. “I’m gonna make sure every part of you remembers that.”

Because this wasn’t about climax.

It was communion.
