She felt it the moment his breath stuttered.

That delicious little pause in his rhythm. The way his muscles tensed beneath her touch. How the air thickened between them, water lapping softly like it knew not to interrupt.

Lilith smiled.

Not sweet.

Not soft.

But lethal.

Because this—this—was what it meant to be worshipped.

To have a man unmake himself for the privilege of keeping her in his hands. To know she could bring him to his knees with a glance, a breath, a single press of her fingers where he ached the most.

Her mouth ghosted his throat, tasting his pulse, his desperation, his devotion.

“You talk about kingdoms,” she whispered, velvet-wicked, lips dragging over his skin. “But I don’t think you understand the rules of mine.”

And before he could answer—

Her hand slid between them.

Under the water. Over muscle and heat and tension pulled tight as a bowstring.

She wrapped her fingers around him with devastating grace. A slow, deliberate stroke that made his whole body jerk against hers. That made his head drop to her shoulder, breath catching like it might shatter.

“Oh,” she purred, chin lifting in mock thought, “there it is.”

She stroked him again—languid, cruel in how gentle it was. Not enough to give relief. Just enough to torment.

To tease.

To own.

His hands tightened on her hips, but he didn’t stop her. Couldn’t. Wouldn’t. Not when she looked like that—moonlight carving her in silver, hair slicked back like a siren fresh from the deep, lips parted just enough to hint at all the ways she planned to break him next.

“You said you live at my feet,” she murmured against his ear, stroking him again, her thumb brushing the tip with sinful precision. “Then beg, Nico.”

Her voice was low. Dangerous. Erotic in a way that twisted love and lust into the same deadly weapon.

“You think you’re kneeling,” she said, her grip tightening for just a beat before easing again, “but you don’t know what it means to surrender. Not yet.”

She kissed him then—claimed him—deep and dark and endless. Her tongue swept into his mouth like a spell. Her body tightened around him with dangerous grace. Every inch of her was power and promise, hunger and hellfire, and his.

“Say it,” she whispered into his lips, hand still working him under the water, slow and sovereign. “Say you’re mine.”

And when he did—when he moaned it like a confession, a curse, a fucking surrender—

Lilith Valentine smiled like a goddess fed.

Because she didn’t just own him.

She reigned.

He choked on the breath she stole from him.

That first touch—God, that first touch—wasn’t just physical. It was cataclysmic. Like she reached inside his ribcage, wrapped her fingers around his spine, and pulled. Everything in him—mind, body, soul—arched toward her in blind, helpless obedience.

Nico’s eyes fluttered shut. Just for a second. Just to survive it.

His hands clenched at her hips, not to hold her still—no, never that—but to anchor himself before he fucking disintegrated in her hands.

And still, she smiled.

Like she already knew.

Like she’d always known.

“Lilith,” he groaned, low and wrecked, head dropping to her shoulder as the water surged around them, useless against the heat between their bodies. “Christ—”

But Christ had nothing to do with this.

This was sacrilege wrapped in silk and smirk. This was her.

She worked him slow, deliberate, like every inch of his unraveling was art—and she was the only one skilled enough to sculpt it. His hips bucked without permission, and the sound he made was somewhere between a growl and a prayer.

She was talking again. Teasing. Tormenting.

He tried to bite back his reaction, tried to meet her fire with his own, but fuck, she was too much. Too precise. Too her.

When her thumb swept across the tip, he shuddered—shoulders jerking, lips parting, voice coming out strangled and raw.

“Lilith,” he rasped, voice gone to gravel. “You don’t fight fair.”

She kissed him like that was a promise.

And he let her take it all.

Because he was on his knees. Not just in body—but in soul. In spirit.

And when she whispered “Say it. Say you’re mine.”

He didn’t hesitate.

Didn’t breathe.

Just moaned it against her mouth like it was the only thing keeping him alive.

“I’m yours.”

Another stroke. Another kiss. His fingers digging into her like she was the only thing tethering him to this plane.

“Fuck, Lilith—I’m yours. Always. Take it. Take all of me—”

He was shaking now. Barely upright. Every part of him begging for her, needing her, undone by her.

Not just in the water.

Not just in this moment.

But forever.

“You want surrender?” he whispered, lips pressed to the curve of her jaw, voice frayed and fevered. “Then take it. I’m not just kneeling. I’m bowing. To you.”

He lifted her higher in the water, chest heaving, forehead pressed to hers.

“And I’ll stay there,” he vowed, “til my last fucking breath.”

Because this?

This wasn’t just lust.

It was worship.

And he was hers.

God, she loved this.

The way his voice broke for her. The way his body trembled—tight and burning and begging in her grip. The way he gasped her name like it held salvation.

And maybe it did.

Because right now? She was the altar. The storm. The reckoning.

Lilith dragged her thumb down his length again, slow as sin, watching his head tilt back, jaw clenched like he was praying to survive her. She didn’t ease up. She didn’t soften. She smiled—dark and full of hunger.

Because he was beautiful like this.

Ruined in her hands.

Eyes heavy, lips parted, muscles trembling as he fought to keep from falling apart.

“You’ll stay on your knees?” she echoed, voice low and silken, almost cruel in how gentle it was. “Good boy.”

Her words hit him like heat lightning—silent but searing. She felt the ripple in him, the breath that caught in his throat, the helpless way his hands gripped her tighter.

And she basked in it.

She was high on it.

His need. His worship. His surrender.

Her mouth brushed his cheek, her tongue tracing the shell of his ear as she whispered, “You break so pretty for me.”

She stroked him again—just once, just to prove her point—and felt his entire body jolt.

Her laugh was soft. Dangerous. Laced with dark promise.

And still, she kept her own hunger caged. Barely.

Because it was delicious. Watching him lose himself. Knowing she held the match and the wildfire.

But power like this didn’t come without consequence.

Because her thighs were clenching. Her pulse was thundering. Her breath was getting ragged, too.

She wanted.

And she was so damn close to giving in.

He looked at her then—eyes wild, reverent, wrecked—and it hit her like a wave to the ribs. That love. That devotion. Like she was holy and terrifying all at once, and he wanted it. All of it. Her.

No fear.

No hesitation.

Just worship.

And suddenly—she couldn’t hold back.

Lilith moaned softly, almost surprised by the sound, and fisted her hand in his hair. Yanked his mouth to hers. Kissed him like punishment and permission, like the gates of something sacred just slammed open and she’d stopped caring who survived it.

Her legs wrapped around him in one fluid, desperate motion. Her body, all slick heat and dark hunger, pressing flush to his with no more teasing, no more space.

She bit his bottom lip between her teeth and murmured, wrecked:

“Then fuck me like you mean your prayers.”

She didn’t need to command. She didn’t need to ask twice.

Because they were already burning.

And this?

This was the moment they both gave in.

Not to lust.

Not to love.

To each other.

And the stars?

They didn’t dare look away.

God help him.

No—God had nothing to do with this.

Because whatever this was?

It was her.

It was holy only in the way she made ruin feel like redemption.

Nico was shaking.

Breathless.

On the fucking edge—from her words, her hands, her mercyless control. Her voice wrapped around him like a velvet noose, her touch slow and precise, and fuck—fuck, he couldn’t hold himself together under her gaze.

Not when she looked at him like this.

Not when her fingers gripped his soul through his skin.

Not when her body coiled around his like fate had slipped into the water with them and decided to stay.

“Good boy.”

Two words.

That’s all it took.

All it ever took.

The heat ricocheted through his spine like it was made for her. His knees nearly buckled in the pool, underwater, because she spoke and his body listened. No thought. No willpower. Just obedience.

Because with her?

He wanted to be undone.

Needed it.

Lived for it.

And when she said, “You break so pretty for me,” he fucking did.

His head dropped to her shoulder, groaning her name like it was both plea and praise, every muscle in his body tight with need. His hands roamed—gripping her hips like she was the only thing anchoring him to Earth, sliding up her spine like maybe if he touched her hard enough, he’d memorize this moment on instinct alone.

But she—God, she was too much.

That laugh.

That look in her eye.

The way she dragged her thumb down him with that cruel little smirk, and he nearly sank.

And still—

Still—

She kissed him like fire wasn’t dangerous. Like she wanted to burn. Like her mouth was both temple and trap.

And when she bit his lip and whispered, “Then fuck me like you mean your prayers”?

Nico lost it.

His growl was low. Rough. Half-devotion, half-damnation.

His hands moved in an instant—one arm wrapping beneath her thighs to lift her higher, the other splaying across her lower back, dragging her fully against him with no hesitation, no mercy. The water surged, hissing over tile as his body pinned hers to the edge, breath heavy, voice ruined.

“I do,” he growled against her mouth, “I always fucking do.”

Then he kissed her like it was his last chance to exist.

Hard. Hot. Honest.

There was no space between them now—just skin, just slick heat and desperation, just them. Colliding. Crashing. Consuming.

Her moans were sacred. His groans were confessions. Every breath between them was a vow spoken in body language, soaked in moonlight and the ache of finally.

And God, she felt like everything.

Like chaos wrapped in honey.

Like every prayer he’d never dared speak aloud suddenly had a name—and it was Lilith.

“You think I’m worshipping?” he panted, thrusting into her with perfect, punishing rhythm. “You haven’t seen devotion until I make your voice the only sound heaven listens to.”

Her head dropped back, neck bared, and he kissed the column of her throat like a man starved—like he could drink eternity from her skin.

“I’ll give you everything,” he swore, every word pressed between kisses and gasps. “My hands. My heart. My fucking soul. Just—don’t stop looking at me like that.”

She tightened around him and he groaned again—louder now. Shameless.

“Fuck—Lilith—” He was close. Wrecked. Ruined.

And yet he meant every word.

Because he wasn’t just hers in this moment.

He was hers in all of them.

In the hunger.

In the hush.

In the way he fell apart just to feel her put him back together again.

Because this?

This wasn’t a midnight swim.

It was myth.

It was ritual.

It was every dark fairytale they’d ever feared becoming—wrapped in moonlight, tethered by love, and burning so beautifully, the stars wept just to witness it.

And he?

He’d drown in her again.

Gladly.

Just to prove he meant it.

She saw it happen.

Felt it.

The shift.

That split-second where reverence cracked into recklessness. Where the good boy with fire in his lungs turned into something untamed—still hers, still worshipful—but wild now. Ravaging. Relentless.

And God, did she love it.

Her lips parted in a gasp that turned into a grin, a laugh that came out dark and dizzy with want. Because she’d lit the fuse—and now he was burning for her.

She wrapped her arms around his shoulders as he pinned her to the pool’s edge, her nails dragging down his back just to hear him groan again. To feel it vibrate through him. To own it.

“There you are,” she whispered, voice rough silk against his ear, breath catching on a moan when he thrust into her again, harder this time. Needier. Like she’d flipped a switch and set his soul on fire.

He growled something filthy into her skin, and her laugh stuttered into a whimper.

That was the thing about power.

She loved having it.

Loved bending him. Guiding him. Taming him with a word, a touch, a whisper.

But she lived for this.

For the moment he took it back. For the way he gripped her like he was claiming sacred ground. For the flash in his eyes when reverence turned ravenous. When devotion got teeth.

Her hips bucked into him, frantic, aching, demanding more.

“Don’t stop,” she breathed, barely coherent now, lips brushing his jaw. “Don’t you fucking dare stop.”

Because suddenly, she was the one unraveling.

Suddenly, the goddess was gasping.

And she loved him more for it.

Loved the way he could strip her down with just a look. Loved the way he could take every ounce of control she wielded like a blade—and flip it. Wield her.

Every thrust, every bite of his mouth down her neck, every fevered promise against her collarbone—she was drunk on it. Drenched in it. Coming apart beneath it.

“Nico—”

Her voice cracked, wrecked and wrecking, hands clutching at his shoulders like they were the only steady thing left in the world.

And when he looked at her—really looked—eyes dark and blown wide and so fucking gone for her?

She shattered.

Right there in his arms.

Around him.

Because he was everything she never knew she needed.

The worshipper.

The wild.

The man who made surrender feel like power.

And when she came, it wasn’t just pleasure—it was a goddamn coronation.

A cry crowned in stars and sweat and devotion.

And when she blinked the haze from her lashes, mouth still parted, skin glowing with heat and water and reverence, she kissed him like a queen choosing her favorite chaos.

Soft. Slow.

A dare on her tongue.

She kissed him like a queen choosing her favorite chaos, and when she pulled back—
still breathless, still pulsing with aftershock—
she smiled like she knew exactly what she’d done to him.

“Worship looks good on you.”

She didn’t need to be in control to own the moment.

Because in the end?

They weren’t trading power.

They were building a kingdom with it.

And Nico—wrecked, reverent, trembling with afterglow and still chasing the echo of her name on his lips—could do nothing but laugh.

Low. Shaky. Ruined.

Not because she was wrong.

Because she was right.

Because no temple, no prayer, no sacred thing had ever felt like this. Like her.

He pressed his forehead to hers, still breathless, water beading off both their skin, his chest heaving like he’d just run through fire and come out willing to burn again. His hands stayed at her waist, not gripping anymore—just holding. Grounding. As if letting go now might unravel him completely.

“You call it worship,” he rasped, voice thick, lips brushing hers with every word, “but you—you’re the altar, Lilith. And I’d die kneeling.”

She smiled. Of course she did. That soft, wicked, holy hell I own you smile that made his knees weak even now, even after the world had just cracked open between them.

His hand slid up her back, fingers tracing the curve of her spine. Slow. Tender. He kissed her again—not like before. Not wild. Not claiming.

This kiss was home.

“You know what I saw,” he whispered into her mouth, “when you broke like that? When you came like you were crowned by the stars?”

He pulled back an inch. Just enough to look at her. Really look.

“I saw forever.”

His voice broke on it. Honest. Honoring.

“You think I’m the wild one, tesoro? You think I’m the one losing control?”

He let his thumb drag across her lower lip, still red and parted and swollen from everything they just were.

“You undid me the second you looked at me like I mattered.”

And then softer—barely a breath:

“You made me want to matter.”

That was the real power.

Not what she did with her hands.

Not the way she owned the night, the stars, the thunder in his veins.

It was how she loved.

Fierce. Terrifying. Unapologetic.

Like he was already something holy in her eyes.

He cupped her face, kissed her again. Reverent. Soft.

“I don’t need thrones or temples or crowns,” he murmured against her cheek.

“Just you.”

Her. And the moon. And the ache in his ribs from loving her so hard it hurt.

Because they weren’t just fucking.

They were forging.

A kingdom of chaos and kindness. Of breathless nights and blood-warm water. Of power shared and hearts broken open.

And in that quiet, Nico swore something unspoken.

A vow in the beat of his pulse.

A prayer in the way he held her like she was everything he’d ever asked the universe for—

And the answer that kissed him back.

Lilith didn’t speak right away.

She couldn’t.

Not when her chest still stuttered with the ghost of his hands, not when his words cracked something in her that no blade ever could.

You made me want to matter.

God.

She should’ve smirked. Should’ve said something wicked to deflect the way that line had gutted her, laid her bare in the most dangerous way.

But all she could do was breathe.

Just feel him.

His touch, gentled now. His kiss, reverent. His eyes, wide and wrecked and full of something too big for this moment—too big for her, if she didn’t already know how to carry it.

She leaned her forehead against his, eyelids fluttering closed. Water clung to her lashes. Her fingers, usually so sure, so commanding, slid into his hair like a question instead of a command.

And when she spoke?

It was barely a whisper.

“I don’t let people love me.”

A pause. Just long enough for him to hear the weight of it. The truth of it.

“I let them want me. I let them chase. I let them fall at my feet and beg for the parts of me I’ve already burned.”

Her voice trembled—not with fear. With surrender.

“But you…” she breathed, brushing her lips to his like a secret. “You made me want to stay.”

She opened her eyes then, let him see it—all of it.

The vulnerability she never showed. The ache beneath the armor. The girl behind the goddess, clinging to him like she’d just survived something sacred.

“Tu es mon miracle,” she whispered, thumb tracing his jaw with aching gentleness. You are my miracle.

“You call me an altar,” she said softly, “but you’re the offering I never knew how to ask for.”

She kissed him again—slow, deep, and devastating in its softness.

Because that was the thing about power.

It wasn’t in the fire.

It was in the stillness after.

In the way she held him now, curled against the edge of the pool like they were the only two people left in a world they’d just undone.

She let him breathe her in. Let him hold her.

Not because she was weak.

But because he was the only one strong enough to carry this version of her.

The real one.

And in that quiet, sacred hush—the kind that only follows storms and orgasms and truth—she smiled against his mouth.

Not wicked. Not smug.

Just hers.

And his.

“Tu comptes pour moi,” she murmured, voice soft enough to ruin. You matter to me.
“Tu l’as toujours fait.” You always have.

And this?

This was her proof.

Letting him see her after the fire.

Letting him stay.

Letting him love.

She said it like it cost her something.

Like it burned on the way out.

And God, maybe it did.

Nico didn’t move right away.

Didn’t breathe.

He just looked at her—really looked—like if he blinked, she might vanish. Like the version of her in his arms, stripped down to nothing but truth and tremble, might slip back behind the glass she usually kept between herself and the world.

But she didn’t.

She stayed.

Pressed to him, breath catching, eyes wide and open and wrecked in a way that shattered every part of him still pretending to be whole.

Her voice echoed inside him, soft and laced with reverence.

Tu es mon miracle.

He felt his throat tighten.

Because no one had ever said that to him before.

Not like that.

Not with water clinging to their lashes and truth blooming on their lips.

Not like they meant it.

He cradled her face like she was the most fragile thing in the world and the strongest all at once. His thumbs swept over her cheekbones, reverent. His forehead stayed pressed to hers, breath shaking, chest aching.

“Lilith,” he whispered, like her name was the only prayer he knew. “You don’t have to let anyone love you.”

A pause. His lips brushed hers. Gentle. Devastated.

“But I’m gonna do it anyway.”

His hands slid down to her waist, holding her close like he could fuse them together with the right kind of grip. Like maybe that would be enough to keep her safe from the things she still didn’t say.

“You don’t have to stay,” he murmured, voice thick with emotion, “but if you do—if you keep showing up like this—then I swear to you, I’ll spend the rest of my life learning how to hold you without ever caging you.”

The water shifted around them, quiet and moonlit, like it knew better than to interrupt.

He kissed her again.

Slower this time.

No heat. No bite.

Just every broken piece of him reaching for every broken piece of her and saying I see you.

“I don’t want your throne,” he whispered against her mouth. “I want your mornings. Your laughter. The sound you make when you don’t know anyone’s listening.”

Another kiss.

“And your scars,” he added, voice lower now. Fiercer. “Especially your scars.”

Because she wasn’t an altar to him.

She was the miracle.

Not because she let him worship her.

But because she looked at him like he was something worth believing in, too.

And in that sacred hush—bare, baptized, love-laced and real—he pulled her to his chest and breathed her name again like a vow.

Because she let him stay.

And he wasn’t going anywhere.

She didn’t look away.

Didn’t pull back. Didn’t armor up. Didn’t speak just to fill the silence.

She just breathed.

Let the water rock gently around them. Let the moonlight catch the curve of his jaw. Let the soft, steady ache in her chest remind her that this was real. That he was real.

That every word he said—every vow spoken like a whisper against her mouth—was already true.

Because Nico had never once let her down.

Not once.

He’d never faltered. Never made her question herself. Never made her beg for the kind of love he gave freely, endlessly, like it wasn’t a burden to carry the wild thing that lived in her chest. Like it was an honor.

And that?

That undid her.

Not the way he touched her.

The way he believed her.

The way he loved her like he’d been made for it. Like his soul already knew hers from lifetimes before.

Her fingertips dragged through the hair at his nape, delicate now. Her touch had lost its edge—no claws, no claims.

Only devotion.

Only him.

She exhaled, lips parting like the truth had finally softened enough to speak.

“Mon cœur,” she whispered. My heart.

It slipped out before she could stop it.

French again.

Always French, when it was too much to bear in any other language.

Because that’s what he’d become. Somewhere along the way.

Not her weakness.

Her heart.

She said it like it cost her something.

Like it burned on the way out.

And God, maybe it did.

But it was his now. He was hers now.

And for once in her life, that didn’t terrify her.

It healed her.

Her thumb brushed his cheek like she was memorizing the curve of it. Her other hand curled gently over his chest, feeling the beat beneath her palm—steady. Sure.

“I’ve never had to wonder,” she murmured. “Not with you.”

Her voice trembled, eyes glassed with something that looked too soft to be pain and too deep to be joy. “Not once. Not for a second. I’ve never had to brace for the fall.”

She smiled—barely.

But it was real.

And when she leaned in, resting her forehead against his again, her voice dropped to a whisper. A vow. A truth too sacred to say in anything louder than breath.

“You are the only thing in this world that doesn’t make me flinch.”

A tear slipped down her cheek—quiet. Unannounced.

She didn’t wipe it away.

Because he’d already seen everything.

She let him hold her. Let herself be held. No performance. No persona. Just a girl in a pool with the man she’d loved for centuries, whether she’d known it or not.

“I don’t want kingdoms,” she whispered, echoing him now. “I want your voice in the morning. Your jacket on my chair. I want the way you look at me when you think I’m not watching.”

She kissed him again—slow, reverent, holy.

“And your laugh,” she added, smiling through it now. “God, I want your laugh for the rest of my life.”

Because he was more than her lover.

More than her worshipper.

He was her match.

Her anchor.

Her always.

And if this was what forever felt like—warm skin, wrecked hearts, quiet water, and a name spoken like a prayer—then she didn’t need anything else.

He had her.

Completely.

“Je t’aime,” she said into the hush. I love you.

Simple. Sacred.

And this time?

She meant it like a promise.

She said it like it was both a confession and a benediction.

Je t’aime.

And Nico swore the earth could’ve cracked open under them and he wouldn’t have noticed. Wouldn’t have cared. Not with her in his arms. Not with those words still warm in the space between their mouths.

Because Lilith Valentine didn’t say I love you like other people did.

She said it like she’d fought wars to earn it. Like she’d bled and burned and clawed her way through the wreckage of every wrong lover, every almost, every ache that came before. She said it like it cost her. Like it freed her.

And she gave it to him.

Him.

Nico closed his eyes for a beat. Let it settle. Let it bury itself somewhere deeper than bone.

When he opened them again, he didn’t smile.

He looked.

At her.

Like she was light. And shadow. And salvation wrapped in the kind of body that made gods jealous and mortals stupid.

He reached for her face with both hands, holding her as gently as he knew how. His thumb brushed away the tear she hadn’t tried to hide.

Not because it needed to be erased.

But because he needed to touch it.

Because she’d let him see it.

His voice was rough when it came. Raw. A little wrecked.

“You are everything I ever prayed for,” he said, forehead pressed to hers again. “And I didn’t even know I was praying.”

He kissed her temple. Then her cheek. Then her jaw. Reverent. Anchoring. Like he was tracing a constellation only he knew by heart.

“You think I’m strong because I don’t make you flinch,” he whispered, voice thick now. “But Lilith… it’s you.”

He leaned back just enough to meet her eyes. His hands stayed at her face, unmoving. Unshaking.

“You are the bravest thing I’ve ever known.”

He smiled—finally.

And it was soft. Destroyed. Beautiful.

“The way you love? The way you let yourself be seen, even when it terrifies you? That’s not weakness, mon amour. That’s goddamn grace.”

His lips brushed hers, not quite a kiss. Just a breath shared.

“You don’t have to choose between being a storm and being held. You don’t have to wear armor in my arms.”

He kissed her then.

Long. Full. Unapologetically tender.

When they parted, he rested his hand over hers—right where she’d pressed it to his chest.

“It’s yours,” he said, quietly fierce. “Every heartbeat. Every breath. Every morning, every laugh, every broken piece that makes me who I am. Yours.”

A pause.

Then, with a wicked little glint cutting through the emotion—just enough to make her smile if she was listening closely:

“And yes… even my jacket on the chair.”

His grin faded into something deeper. Something still.

“You said you don’t want kingdoms,” he murmured, brushing her damp hair behind her ear. “But I’d give you one anyway. Build it with bare hands and broken vows if it meant you’d never question how fucking loved you are.”

The hush stretched.

Full of water and moonlight and the kind of forever they weren’t afraid of anymore.

Nico leaned in, kissed her again like a signature.

And then, with his voice tucked in the crook of her neck, where only she could hear it:

“Je t’aime aussi. More than language knows how to hold.”

Because it was her.

It had always been her.

And now?

There was no going back.
