She melted?

He unraveled.

Because when she curled into him like that—like home, like hope, like every sharp edge had finally softened—it did something to him. Something permanent. Something holy.

Her voice—hushed and husky, still dusted in leftover tears—wrapped around him like velvet, and he couldn’t help the way his arms tightened just slightly. Protective. Anchored. All in.

And then she called him inconvenient, and he laughed—low, wrecked, completely gone for her.

“I warned you,” he murmured, lips grazing her temple. “I said I’d ruin you for anything less.”

His fingers found the bare skin beneath the hem of the shirt she’d stolen again, brushing soft circles into her hip. Like he could memorize her peace the way she was tracing his chest—slow, quiet, infinite.

“You say you’ve never felt more seen,” he whispered, “but you don’t know what it does to me… watching you be this version of yourself. The one the world doesn’t get to touch. The one who falls apart in my arms and still finds a way to make me feel like the luckiest bastard alive.”

He tilted his head just enough to meet her eyes.

“You’re it for me, Lilith. Messy, undone, half-asleep and full of crumbs from whatever the hell we ate earlier. You’re it.”

And then, because she kissed him like it meant something—like it always meant something—he kissed her back.

Deeper this time.

Not rushed. Not demanding.

Just full.

Full of devotion. Full of history. Full of the quiet kind of forever you whisper into someone’s skin when they’ve just told you you’re their miracle.

He tucked her closer after that. Draped the blanket higher over her bare thigh. Let the chaos of the movie keep playing in the background while the softest part of the night settled in.

“Lucky me,” he echoed finally, breath warm against her hair.

And he meant it.

With everything.

Lilith's smile bloomed slow—lazy and golden like the stretch of sunrise over silk sheets. That post-cry softness still clung to her, but now it mixed with something warm. Something playful. Something that only existed in the quiet hours between pillow talk and brushing their teeth.

She tilted her head back, eyes dancing as she looked at him through dark lashes still a little clumped from crying. She reached up, brushing a fingertip along the line of his jaw.

“You keep saying things like that,” she whispered, voice all velvet and edge, “and I’m going to forget how to function like a normal human being.”

Her thumb dragged slowly down the column of his throat, over the place his pulse fluttered. She smirked, soft but wicked. “You’re giving main-character-in-a-romance-novel energy, and it’s honestly a little unfair.”

Then she leaned up and kissed the corner of his mouth—quick, teasing.

“But,” she sighed dramatically, snuggling in closer, “as much as I’d like to stay here tangled up in you while a goat prince screams about betrayal…”

She paused. Smirked against his chest.

“My pores deserve better.”

Lilith tipped her face up, eyes wide and faux-pleading. “Come do skincare with me? I promise to let you use the good cleanser and the pretty headband.”

She wiggled her eyebrows, then added in a stage whisper, “And if you’re very good, I’ll even do your toner for you.”

Her hand trailed over his stomach as she began to shift, untangling her limbs with a slow stretch, black shirt sliding scandalously higher on her thighs—but not on purpose.

Well. Not entirely on purpose.

She stood, bare legs brushing the floor, hair wild and haloed by the glow of the TV behind her. The shirt she wore hit just below the tops of her thighs, sleeves a little too long, falling off one shoulder like a secret invitation.

She turned back to look at him over her shoulder.

“C’mon, Nico,” she purred, already walking backward toward the bathroom. “Let me love you and exfoliate you. That’s the dream, baby.”

And just like that, the ghosts were gone again.

Chased off by goat princes, midnight kisses, and the girl who now laughed in his shirt and invited him into every corner of her rituals—flawed, glowing, and absolutely his.

God.

She could wreck him with skincare.

He watched her rise like the most dangerous kind of moonlight—soft and smug and wrapped in his black shirt like she’d invented comfort and then turned it into temptation. That slow stretch. That flash of thigh. That look over her shoulder?

He was already halfway off the bed before his brain caught up.

“You know,” he drawled, standing and running a hand down his face, “there’s something deeply unholy about the way you weaponize words like toner.”

He followed her down the hall anyway—barefoot, shirt half-tucked, still reeling from the way she made post-breakdown intimacy feel like the sexiest thing in the world.

“You really think I’m gonna say no to a girl in my shirt, asking me to be pampered and emotionally wrecked at the same time?” He reached for her waist as she slowed in the doorway, spun her gently so her back met the wall. “You’ve got no idea how easy you make it to worship you.”

He kissed her there—messy and soft, still full of sugar and sleep and all the things he didn’t have words for yet.

Then he pulled back just enough to grin.

“Fine. But only if I get the cat headband this time.”

And with that, he let her tug him into the bathroom—into steam and serums and that quiet, sacred ritual she’d once kept to herself but now handed over to him like it was intimacy carved into glass jars and clean hands.

Because this? This was love too.

Sheet masks and shared sinks. Her fingers under his chin, dabbing moisturizer like it was a vow. Him kissing the curve of her shoulder while she scrubbed balm into her cheeks. Her glow coming back with every pass of her fingertips.

And him?

He was already glowing just from the way she looked at him.

Like he belonged here.

Always had.

Lilith giggled—actually giggled—as she handed him the prized pink cat headband.

It was velvety-soft, trimmed with tiny embroidered ears, and looked utterly ridiculous perched in his hair. Ridiculous—and somehow devastatingly hot. She took a step back, one bare foot brushing the cool tile, arms crossed as she tilted her head and studied him like art she wasn’t quite done falling in love with.

“You look dangerously adorable,” she murmured, voice honeyed and low. Then, grinning: “Like a bedtime thirst trap.”

The bathroom lights cast a soft golden glow across the marble, bouncing off glass bottles and chrome fixtures, flickering like candlelight off their reflections in the mirror. Outside, the city glimmered through a slit in the curtains—just a hint of restless L.A. nightlife beyond the hush of their world.

She circled him slowly, silk-shirt hem brushing high on her thighs, her hair still wild from the couch and chaos. Fingers skimming along his arm as she passed behind him.

“Honestly?” she drawled, “If I wasn’t already in love with you, this would’ve sealed it. You’re giving ‘K-pop idol caught on a spa day,’ and I am not emotionally stable enough for that.”

She turned to face the mirror, catching his smirk in the reflection, and reached for her rose-scented cleanser—the one in the frosted jar with gold lettering and a price tag she never talked about. Steam curled lazily in the air, fragrant and familiar, wrapping around them like warmth in physical form.

This was their ritual now.

Twin sinks. Serums lined up like soldiers. Shared towels and playful nudges when someone took up too much space. He always pretended not to enjoy it—grumbled at the steps, rolled his eyes at the double cleanse—but never missed a night.

But tonight?

Tonight it wasn’t routine.

It was sacred.

Lilith dabbed product onto her skin with gentle, practiced fingers, then paused. Watched him in the mirror. The way he leaned into her presence without even thinking. The way his hand hovered near hers on the counter, like some part of him always needed to be touching her, even in silence.

“I like this,” she said quietly, not looking away from his reflection. Her voice was slower now, softer around the edges. “The skincare. The headbands. You looking at me like I hung the moon with an exfoliating pad.”

She turned just enough to meet his eyes fully, then lifted her pinky and tapped the tip of his nose.

“I like being this version of me with you.”

And she meant it.

Barefaced. Loose-haired. Wrapped in steam and the smell of jasmine and sleep.

The version of herself no one else had ever gotten close enough to see.

Then, because she was still Lilith—chaotic, sharp, herself—she added with a smirk, “Don’t get too comfortable, though. Next time? I’m making you wear the bunny ears.”

She winked. Kissed his cheek with a softness that didn’t need to prove anything. Just landed. Stayed.

And turned back to the mirror.

Because love didn’t always come in grand gestures.

Sometimes it came in shared spaces, expensive creams, and the quiet, private act of choosing each other—over and over again—between the cleanser and the moonlight.

He caught the headband mid-air, pink velvet ears flopping slightly, and gave her a look—deadpan at first.

Then smirked.

“Really?” he said, voice low, amused. “This is what I’ve been reduced to?”

He slid it over his curls anyway, ears sitting askew, ridiculous and completely hers. “If you post this, I’m denying everything. Photoshop. Deepfake. AI.”

But when she laughed—real, warm, curled behind her teeth like sunlight—he softened.

“I’d wear worse if it meant hearing that sound again.”

The bathroom was glowing—lit like dusk and honey, steam fogging up the mirror in lazy swirls. Her things lined the counter: tiny glass bottles with gold lettering, creams that smelled like flowers and money, a jade roller he once mistook for a weapon. His stuff—minimal, unthreatening—sat beside it like it was lucky just to be invited.

He leaned in toward the mirror, studying the cleanser she’d dolloped into his hand. “If I break out after this, you’re on moisturizer duty for a week.”

He glanced sideways at her, lips twitching. “Actually, even if I don’t break out.”

She didn’t respond right away, too focused on her own routine, and he took the moment to watch her—quietly, reverently.

Then, softly: “You’re beautiful like this.”

Not like the magazines. Not like the stage.

Like now.

Like steam-kissed skin and sleepy limbs and post-chaos softness.

He reached across the sink to brush his knuckle against her shoulder, letting his fingers trail down her arm, grounding himself in the moment.

“I know you let a lot of people see the version you think they want,” he murmured, “but this one’s mine. The no-makeup, oversized-shirt, threatening-me-with-toner one.”

He looked at her reflection in the mirror, his voice dipping lower.

“And I’ve never been more in love with anything.”

She turned her head—smiling, glowing in a way that made his chest ache—and he leaned down to press a kiss to her cheek, just beneath the edge of that wild halo of hair.

Then, playful again, he grinned. “But if you put bunny ears on me next time, we’re fighting.”

He picked up her serum with the concentration of a man diffusing a bomb. “This is the expensive one, right? The one you said costs more than our electric bill?”

A pause.

“I’m scared to touch it.”

Still, he let her guide his hands, let her coax the product into his skin, let her tease and fuss and love him in all her chaotic, rose-scented ways.

And when she rested against him again, bare legs brushing his, breath warming his shoulder, he dropped a kiss into her damp hair and whispered like a vow:

“You make this feel like home.”

He squeezed her hand once, firm and certain.

“Let’s do this forever.”

Lilith didn’t answer right away.

Didn’t need to.

She was too busy watching him in the mirror—her beautiful, ridiculous boy standing there in pink velvet cat ears, bare-faced and breathtaking, holding her $300 serum like it might detonate on contact.

And still—somehow—pulling it off.

The steam framed him in curls and candlelight. Her headband sat slightly crooked on his head, and the way he squinted at the bottle like it had insulted his lineage made her snort, lips quirking against the smile she tried to bite back.

“You should be scared,” she said sweetly, turning to face him fully now, one brow raised in mock-serious warning. “That stuff has seen war. And also Paris Fashion Week. And also my emotional breakdown last Tuesday.”

She reached over, gently plucked the serum from his hand, and leaned in to tap a few drops onto his cheeks with the pads of her fingers—light and precise, like this was her love language spelled out in skincare steps.

“Relax,” she teased, her voice softening. “You’re in excellent hands.”

She smoothed it in with slow, upward strokes, eyes flicking to meet his in the mirror. Something about seeing him like this—unguarded, glowing a little, letting her take care of him without protest—made her chest swell so full it ached.

God, she loved him.

Loved him in the small things. The in-between things.

In the way he always made space for her bottles on the counter. In the way he’d joke about the headbands but wear them anyway. In the way he saw her here, stripped of polish and poise, and looked like he might drop to his knees just to thank the universe for letting him witness it.

She leaned in and kissed the corner of his mouth. Not rushed. Not teasing this time.

Just hers.

“You,” she whispered, lips brushing his skin, “are the only person I’ve ever let see this version of me and still wanted to be around after.”

She stepped back, her hand sliding down his forearm until their fingers threaded together.

“It’s terrifying. And kind of perfect.”

Then, a grin tugging at her mouth, she added, “Also, if you ever dare try to fight me over the bunny ears, just know—I already have the matching sheet mask. It’s over for you.”

She nudged his hip playfully, then moved to rinse her hands, water trickling gently in the background.

Everything smelled like steam and florals and warmth. Her body still buzzed with the ghost of his touch. And when she glanced up again, saw him watching her with that same dumb, soft I’d move mountains for you expression—

She thought, yeah.

Let’s do this forever.

He didn’t say anything at first. Just watched her—watched the way her fingers moved across his skin like a benediction, watched the way her smile never quite left, even when she was trying to pretend it did. The way she looked at him like maybe she was a little in awe, even if she’d never say it out loud.

Her hands were cool from the serum, but the way she touched him—slow, deliberate, tender—set his blood on fire.

And when she kissed the corner of his mouth?

Yeah. That was it.

That was the whole damn story.

He let out a soft breath, one hand finding her waist, thumb grazing bare skin where the shirt rode up, grounding himself in the moment—this ridiculous, perfect moment with a headband on his head and the girl he loved more than anything in the world in front of him, wearing his shirt and threatening him with sheet masks.

His voice was quieter when he finally spoke. No joke this time. Just truth.

“I never knew I could feel this at peace standing next to someone.”

His fingers slid along her spine, not rushing. Just… there.

“You look at me like I’m worth this kind of softness. Like I’m not just allowed to be taken care of, but maybe I deserve it.”

He met her eyes in the mirror—no smirk this time, no performance. Just Nico. Honest. Bare-faced in more ways than one.

“And I never believed that. Not until you.”

A pause.

Then, dryly: “Also, if you ever post a picture of me in this headband with that bunny mask, I will deny you exist in public. I’ll pretend you’re an AI girlfriend.”

His mouth curved, but his eyes were still soft—still holding her the way his arms did every night.

He reached for the towel, dabbing her damp fingers dry before she could do it herself.

Then he kissed her knuckles.

One by one.

And murmured, “I’ve never loved anyone like this. I didn’t know how. But I want to learn every day for the rest of my life.”

He looked back at their reflections—two ridiculous, glowy-faced fools wrapped in steam and skincare and something that felt dangerously close to forever.

And with a grin creeping up on him again, he added:

“Come on, bunny mask. Let’s take this love story to the couch. We’ve got a dragon goat prince to finish rooting for.”

Lilith's smile was immediate.

Slow. Lethal. That devastating kind of sweet that burned a little on the way down.

Her hand lingered in his, knuckles still warm from his mouth, her other palm braced lightly against his chest. She tilted her head, that glossy, wild hair falling over one bare shoulder, and looked up at him like she knew exactly what she was doing to his pulse.

And she loved it.

“Oh, baby,” she purred, lashes lowering, voice dipped in velvet and worship, “you saying things like that in a headband this cute? I’m gonna need a moment.”

She leaned in, lips grazing the underside of his jaw like a promise dressed as a tease. Her voice dropped to a hush, heat curling around every word. “You make it very hard to focus on skincare when you're being vulnerable and sexy at the same time.”

Her fingers slipped beneath the hem of his shirt again, slow and purposeful, trailing just enough to make his breath hitch—then flattening, resting right over his heart.

It was racing.

So was hers.

“Do you have any idea,” she whispered, “how dangerous it is to be loved by someone like you?”

She didn’t wait for an answer. Just met his eyes in the mirror—serious now, glowing and wrecked in the best way. Her voice steadied, low and firm, soft in all the places that mattered.

“You make me feel wanted and safe. Worshipped and challenged. Held and seen.”

A beat.

“And you’re lucky you’re cute, Romano, because I am so gone for you it’s embarrassing.”

She kissed him then.

Not playful.

Not even sultry.

Just real.

Pressed into his mouth like it was home, hands sliding to his face like she needed to memorize him with every touch. The cat ears squished between them, and she laughed into the kiss—laughed—and didn’t pull away.

Just smiled against his lips.

“I want all of it,” she whispered. “The couch. The goat prince. The rest of our stupid beautiful lives.”

And then she pulled him by the hand—gently, like she always could when she meant it most—and led him out of the bathroom, trailing steam and love and a bottle cap that had somehow rolled under the sink.

“You better bring that headband,” she added over her shoulder, eyes bright. “You’re not getting out of your AI girlfriend threats that easy.”

And God, she was radiant.

Skin glowing.

Heart unguarded.

In love.

All of her. Every version.

His.

He couldn’t stop smiling.

Not the easy kind—the public one. The one for interviews and afterparties and charming his way past people who wanted too much.

No.

This was the kind of smile that lived in his bones now. That tugged at his mouth slow and reverent like it was pulled by the gravity of her. Of her laugh. Of the way she kissed him like he was air and ache and always.

“Jesus Christ, Lilith,” he muttered, stunned and wrecked in the best way. His voice dropped low—half-laugh, half-prayer. “You’re gonna kill me in a damn cat headband.”

He let himself be pulled, her hand smaller in his but firm in the way that always made him follow without thinking. She was barefoot and radiant and completely unbothered that she’d just ripped his heart out and kissed it better with lip balm still shining on her mouth.

“You’re unreal,” he said under his breath, eyes trailing over her like a secret. “Like… if Aphrodite had a skincare obsession and kept her chaos in designer perfume bottles.”

He caught her at the doorway—just for a second. Pulled her gently back into him, arms wrapping around her waist, anchoring her against his chest.

His voice was quiet in her ear.

“I’m all in. You know that, right?”

A pause.

“I want it all too. The messy, the magic, the parts where we cry through goat movies and kiss between toner steps. You don’t scare me. Not your past. Not your fire. Not even your $300 serum.”

He kissed her shoulder—soft, slow, right where the shirt had slipped down.

“I want a thousand more nights like this. And I want them with you.”

Then, grinning against her skin:

“But I swear to God, Lil, if you put that bunny sheet mask on me while I’m asleep, I’m changing the WiFi password.”

He took her hand again, threading their fingers, pulling her down the hallway with the kind of ease that only comes from knowing—without question—you’ve found your person.

And yeah.

He brought the headband.

Of course he did.

Lilith didn’t say a word.

Didn’t need to.

Her silence said everything.

The way her lips stayed parted just slightly from the kiss, swollen and slow, like she hadn’t fully come back down from it. The way her eyes shimmered—not with leftover tears, but with something deeper. Softer. Sated. Like her heart was still catching up to the gravity of his words.

She let him lead.

Let his hand wrap around hers, grounding her, pulling her forward—out of the steam, past the earlier storm, through the low-lit hallway like they were walking into the next chapter of their story. Barefoot, heart-bared, skin flushed from something far more dangerous than heat.

Love.

That slow-burning, all-consuming, mine in every lifetime kind of love.

She watched him from behind, the way his shoulders moved under the fabric of his t-shirt, headband still perched like a challenge she planned to revisit later. His warmth guided her through the dark like a lighthouse, like a lullaby.

And when they reached the bed, she climbed in first.

No fanfare.

No flirt.

Just her—lovesick and loose-limbed, sighing as she sank into the mattress like it had missed her.

Like it had missed them.

The screen glowed dim across the room, the cartoon already playing again—dragon-goat hybrid sobbing dramatically over a broken sword or a betrayal or something equally absurd. Nico climbed in beside her, and the moment his arm opened, she curled into it like gravity had made that decision for her.

Her leg hooked over his.

Her cheek pressed to his chest.

Her hand found the edge of his shirt and curled there, knuckles brushing bare skin like it tethered her to the planet.

She didn’t speak at first.

Just breathed with him. Let the rhythm of their hearts sync in the quiet between animation and intimacy. His fingers stroked idly at her back, and her body melted deeper into his, content to exist exactly here. Exactly like this.

Then finally—soft, sultry, slurred from affection and exhaustion and everything he was to her—she spoke.

“I think you’re ruining me for everything that isn’t this.”

A pause.

She tilted her head just enough to meet his eyes, voice still barely above a whisper.

“I don’t think I mind.”

And then she kissed his collarbone.

Slow.

Lingering.

Like a promise pressed into skin.

And stayed there. Drunk on him. Glowing from within.

Because the storm was over.

And she’d found her way home.
