Fireworks soar over the lake — red, gold, blue, violet — their reflections rippling across the water. Boats drift offshore, their lights bobbing like fireflies. On the hill, couples lean together under blankets, kids point up with wide eyes, and everyone seems to go quiet in unison at that first, perfect burst.

Someone hands you a sparkler. Someone else sneaks a kiss during the finale. And for a moment, it’s like the whole town is held still by the sky.
