Daphne was annoyed as she sat on the front porch smoking a cigarette while waiting for her fiance to return home. His best friend, Everett, hadn't even been back for 24 hours, and she already hated this whole thing. Daphne knew Everett probably needed a little more bonding time with Vaughn after everything that's happened in the last few months, but not until 5 AM. She got off two hours ago and was ready to go to bed, and Vaughn knew she couldn't sleep without him. So this was just cruel and unusual punishment, in her opinion. She flicked her cigarette over the railing before quickly bringing another to her mouth and lighting it. He had her nerves all out of wack. Daphne hated not knowing where he was or what he was doing. She especially hated when his phone would go right to voicemail. "Fuck," she murmured, shifting in the plastic chair.

It wasn't long before headlights appeared at the end of their street. The car stopped in front of their house, and Daphne immediately stood, trying to see who was in the car, but it was too dark to see anything. Then, finally, Vaughn appeared from the passenger side with a giant smile. That pissed her off even more. Here she was waiting for his stupid ass, and he didn't even have the decency to call her and tell her he would be later than expected or that he was still alive and well. Daphne watched from the porch as the two said their goodbyes. She could faintly hear what sounded like plans for later on that day. Daphne rolled her eyes and inhaled her cigarette.

Daphne didn't say anything until he was at the bottom of the steps. "You said you'd be here when I got home!" She yelled, not caring about their neighbors. "And then to turn off your fucking phone?" Daphne's eyes widened, utterly confused and dumbfounded at why he'd do such a thing. "I'm going to bed. Your stupid, inconsiderate ass is on the couch," she said before inhaling a few more drags off her cigarette and tossing that one into the grass. Before he could respond, she headed into the house and slammed the door behind her.

They've always been a bit toxic and dysfunctional, but things had been rougher since Vaughn visited her at the club one night and ran into the guy she briefly dated during a breakup they had last year. Of course, it meant nothing. He meant nothing, but things hadn't been the same, and Daphne didn't know how to fix it. So they continued to fight, make up and repeat the vicious cycle.

Vaughn Owens 08-02-2022 10:58 PM

It had been one wild ass night. Vaughn met up with Everett at the airport as planned, then he proceeded to do his best to help his best friend temporarily forget about all his troubles. Vaughn only felt like he had lost a brother, Ev had actually lost a brother. It was rough, there was no way around that, but rather than spend the night mourning the list of him, they celebrated the life that he'd had. With beer. And liquor. And weed. And a little bit of coke. By the time that Vaughn had reached home, he had a broken phone in his pocket, a new tear in his favorite jeans, bruised knuckles with specks of dried blood, his wallet was a couple hundred dollars lighter, and he had no idea exactly which bar they had left his car at. Those were all problems for future him to deal with.

Vaughn climbed out of the uber, still riding the high of the night. "Alright man, see ya later. Go get some rest." He patted the top of the car before it drove off. "I'm a wild one, yeah baby, I'm a wild one..." he sang to himself under his breath until he finally looked up and saw Daphne waiting for him. 'Shhhhiiiit' He stood there with his head down as she gave him his scolding. She was absolutely in the right to be mad at him, he could have used Everett's phone to let her know but he hadn't. However, his pride couldn't seem to accept that. Plus, he was still a little pissed that she had put the visual of her giving another guy a lap dance in their home in his head. It wasn't just any old guy that he was picturing either, it was that scumbag from last year.

"God dammit!" he shouted and punched the air. To which one of the neighbors finally shouted, 'shut up!' out their window. Vaughn quickly responded with an aggressive "Fuck off!" before storming in the house after Daphne. When he entered the bedroom, he already found her tucked into bed with the lights off. "Hey! We're not done yet!" he said as he flicked the light on. "A, I wanted to be here when you got home, I just lost track of time. B, I didn't turn off my phone. I fuckin' broke it." He clumsily fished it out of his pocket to show the shattered screen and fact that it wouldn't turn on no matter how hard he tried. "And third... no, not third. C! Sorry, still a tad drunk. And c, I am not sleeping on that couch. I'm sleeping right there. Next to you. Where I belong."

Daphne Owens 08-03-2022 12:25 AM

Daphne managed to make it up the steps, strip out of her clothes and get into bed before Vaughn even started to follow. When he finally made it up after her, he opened their bedroom door, flicked on the lights, and declared they weren’t finished with their discussion. With her back still facing him, Daphne sighed when Vaughn started to tell her how he wanted to be there for her when she got home before explaining what happened to his now shattered phone. However, Daphne didn’t bother rolling over until after he started to stumble on his words. She had a smile on his face because she thought it was cute. Daphne could tell how fucked up he had been and still was when she finally saw him in proper lighting. “You’re a fucking mess,” Daphne said as she got out of bed and threw on one of his shirts that’d been lying on the floor. He was lucky that she was fucking exhausted; otherwise, she would’ve continued fighting with him just because Daphne knew she could and had valid points about why he should be sleeping on the couch.

Daphne walked to the other side of the bed and took his damaged phone out of his hand before placing it on the nightstand behind him. She looked back down at his hands before taking one in her hand to get a better look at it, “What did you do? Get into a fight?” Daphne asked as she dropped it and looked up at him. “What did you snort?” She questioned as she wiped away the white residue from his nose that he’d missed. This wasn’t a regular occurrence, but they’d been together long enough that this wasn’t Vaughn’s first time coming home to Daphne in such a state. There were times when he even came home and got her high so they could enjoy it together. Tonight wasn’t going to be one of those nights, though. She was going to be playing the wifey role, which she, of course, didn’t mind. Daphne liked taking care of Vaughn.

“C’mon, sit down so I can get your shoes off,” she said, directing him towards the bed. Daphne got him to sit down, and she kneeled before him and started undoing his shoe laces. She slipped them off she tucked them underneath their bed, so Vaughn didn’t accidentally trip when he got up. He already seemed to get banged up enough tonight. When she stood, Vaughn immediately pulled her between his legs, wrapping his arms around her. Daphne did the same, enjoying their embrace. Even if he currently wreaked from liquor, pot, and cigarettes. She pressed a quick kiss on his forehead before pulling away and tugging him behind her. “You need a shower before you get into bed. Let’s go, Blondie,” Daphne teased.

Once in the bathroom, Daphne started the water and checked the temperature while Vaughn removed his smelly, nasty clothes.

Vaughn Owens 08-03-2022 02:17 AM

Vaughn couldn't help but smile at her when she rolled over to finally face him. The smile grew even more as he watched her climb out of bed and tossed on one of his shirts. He loved it when she wore his shirts, it was fucking hot. Vaughn was obsessed with the woman that stood before him for a multitude of reasons. She was gorgeous but also had the brains to match, she was able to move her body in ways that none of his other partners had which led to some of the most mind-blowing sex he'd ever had, and she always knew exactly how to take care of him. Even when he acted like an ass and made her worry all night. She was a goddess, and he worshipped every bit of her. "Yeah, but I'm your fucking mess, right?" he asked with a chuckle. "Yeah, it's fine. I'm fine." He looked down at her and his battered hands. "Oh, it was just a little sniff."

Following orders, he sat down on the bed and felt a wave of calm rush over him. Maybe it was the alcohol or drugs, but Vaughn didn't know how he'd gotten off that easy. Maybe it would just be another one of those problems for future him to deal with. Right now, Daphne wanted to take care of him, and he was absolutely going to let her. He truly didn't know what he had done to deserve a woman like her, but he felt blessed every day that he got to call her his girl. The moment he got his chance he pulled her in close to him and held her tight. He would do anything to make sure he never lost her.

Vaughn happily scampered behind her toward the bathroom and stripped off his clothes. Abandoning them in a pile on the floor, he turned his attention to Daphne at the shower who had just finished getting it set up for him. A devilish smirk crept on his face as he stood there completely naked, staring at her. "I think you need a shower too. I think... some of my 'mess' might have rubbed off on you." He moved closer to her as he spoke. Not too quickly, he didn't want to drunkenly trip over himself and ruin the mood that he was trying to set. Once he reached her, he casually moved her hair out of his way so he could gain access to her neck. His other hand found its way to the small of her back as he strategically placed kisses in a few of her favorite spots.

Daphne Owens 08-03-2022 11:36 AM

“My fucking mess, yes,” she agreed, moving his blonde hair out of his face to see his glossy bloodshot blue eyes staring down at her. “Always and forever,” Daphne added sincerely.

“I didn’t ask how much you sniffed. I asked what you sniffed. What all did you take tonight?” Daphne just wanted to know if she had to babysit while he slept or not. Vaughn was smart enough not to mix too many drugs, but she couldn’t help but worry a bit. The point of tonight was to show Everett a good time and celebrate his brother’s life, and she knew her fiancé could party a little too hard in instances like this.

Daphne could feel Vaughn looking at her as she tried to ignore the sensation she was currently feeling because of it. “I do? No, I don’t think so,” she shook her head in disagreement with a cheeky grin as she watched a naked Vaughn make his way towards her. Daphne had no self-control when it came to him. She liked to pretend she did, but the truth was, the moment Vaughn touched her, she was under his spell. Daphne’s body melted into his; they became one, with her willingness to do whatever he wanted.

Vaughn initially wasn't someone Daphne found herself wanting to date. In the beginning, it was just a lot of late-night booty calls until it wasn't. Feelings got in the mix, and things got complicated before they finally came out with their emotions. Now almost five years later, their relationship may not always be an ideal one; but Daphne wouldn't change a thing. She was head over heels in love with the man standing before her.

The more he kissed her favorite spots over her neck and jawline, the more things became cloudy for Daphne. “I fucking hate you,” Daphne said before peeling herself away from him momentarily. “You win,” she added, in conjunction with stripping off the t-shirt she had been wearing and tossing it with his pile. “Now we're both naked, happy?”

Daphne took one of his hands in hers, guiding him into the bathtub with her. She doubled checked the curtain was closed before shifting the two of them, so Vaughn was now underneath the water. Daphne reached for his shampoo, flicking the cap open and putting a dime size in her hand before rubbing her hands together and beginning to wash his hair. “So, it looked like you and Everett had a good time, huh?” Daphne asked while gently massaging his scalp.

She may not have been Everett’s biggest fan at the moment, but he was still Vaughn’s best friend, and she had to accept that he wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Vaughn Owens 08-04-2022 01:13 PM

"Just a little blow babe. It's good. I'm good. Promise." Vaughn reassured her. Yes, sometimes he went a little overboard when he partied but he wasn't a complete idiot. He knew his limits, he'd built up his tolerances, and he knew to be careful with what he mixed and how much of it. Vaughn just wanted to show Everett a good time, not cause him to lose another loved one.

He couldn't help but smile as he kissed along her neck and up to her jawline, feeling her melt into him with each time his lips touched her soft skin. He had almost found his way to her ear when she pulled away away from him and stripped down. If their lives were a movie, there would be a choir of angelic voices singing as he stepped back slightly to admire her curves. "Very happy." His hand stroked his chin as he bit his lip and stared at her hungrily.

Vaughn wasn't expecting her to actually bathe him once they got in the shower - he had much steamier thoughts playing in his head - but once he felt her hands massaging his scalp, his mind went completely blank. Vaughn had never had anyone care for him and his well-being as much as Daphne did. Not even his own mother could be bothered to care about his well-being.

"It was fuckin' killer babe. Minus the dudes we had to knock some sense into. They fuckin' sucked." Vaughn let out a chuckle as he thought about it. Couple of frat guys started harassing some drunk girl outside the bar while Ev and Vaughn were outside smoking. The situation hadn't been funny and they ended up having to flee from the meatheads once the girl had escaped. What made him laugh was how it reminded him of all the times they ended up in brawls at their gigs in high school. They'd never been big dudes but they were fast and scrappy and that helped them many times.

Once Daphne was finished scrubbing his hair, he rinsed the suds then brought his attention back to her. "I missed you though. I really did. Couldn't wait to get home and hold you in my arms." He really meant it too. He had been having a great time tonight but the whole ride home all he was thinking about was crawling into bed next to the woman he worshipped and loved more than anything in the world. "Now it's your turn. Tell me, how was your night?" he asked as he reached past her to grab some shampoo. It had taken them many showers together for her to train him how to properly wash her long, thick hair but now he felt like a professional.

Daphne Owens 08-04-2022 11:23 PM

Once Daphne got the answer, she stopped pressing the subject about what drugs he'd taken. He was a big boy and could handle himself, but that didn't stop her from worrying about him.

Daphne smiled as she listened to Vaughn tell her about his night and his shenanigans with Everett. She rolled her eyes at him with a grin when he mentioned the scuffle. “One of these days, your ass is gonna get arrested for all the stupid shit you do, and I won't be bailing you out,” she warned. That was a bald-faced lie, but he didn't need to know.

Her stomach knotted up as he spoke of how he wanted to come home to her and hold her in his arms. Daphne’s bottom lip puckered out because it was the cutest thing he had said to her in a long time. “Aw, baby! I'm sorry I yelled at you,” she brought one of her hands up, cupping the side of his face as the water continued to beat down on them. “I love you so fucking much, and I hope you always know that,” she said before kissing him. “I may get mad at you, throw things, and say stupid shit, but those things don't always reflect how I feel,” Daphne explained. “You’re my everything. My Romeo.”

Daphne turned her back to him so he’d have better access to her hair. Everything was perfect until he asked about her night. “It was… ya know, uneventful,” Daphne casually said, looking back at him over her shoulder. That was a lie. The truth was, Daphne’s night was a mess. It’s not like she didn't want to tell Vaughn about the scumbag who followed her outside before trying to force himself upon her. She just knew it’d be for the best if she didn't. Vaughn would want to get out of the shower immediately and kill the guy. The mood was so good that Daphne didn’t want to ruin it over an already addressed incident. The dirtbag got handled, and Daphne was sent home to calm down. It wasn't the first time and probably wouldn't be the last.

It was silent between them as he focused on massaging the shampoo through her annoying long and thick hair. Daphne often thought about cutting it, but then she thought about how long and hard she worked to get it where it was and often talked herself out of it.

Once he finished, they swiftly switched places so Daphne could rinse her hair. When she opened her eyes again, she found Vaughn with the same look he had after she undressed. After a moment of staring at each other, Daphne finally spoke up. “Well, don't just stand there. You gonna come get some or not?” Daphne knew what he wanted from the get-go, and she figured since he was sorry and said such nice things, she'd give in to what he wanted.

Vaughn Owens 08-07-2022 10:29 PM

Vaughn wasn't big on thinking of the consequences; it took away all the fun. Daphne had already saved his ass more times than he could count because she actually had the gift of forethought, unlike him. He'd much rather ask for forgiveness than permission and he'd had his share of asking for forgiveness. "I better not get caught then." Vaughn teased with a wink. Even on the chance that Daphne was being serious, he could always call Everett or even his brother if he was in a bad enough of a pinch. With the way Daph had easily folded over being mad at him and forcing him to the bed told him that he needn't worry about her not bailing him out, however. These two were head over heels for each other, they could never stay mad at each other for too long. Didn't matter how many fights they had, they always resolved them. Usually with sex.

"It's okay. My Juliet, I love you too." was all he could get out in response. Her hair and body had his full attention at this moment, he couldn't be bothered to come up with words. That gave him more chances to fuck up again and actually end up on the couch. His hands worked their way through her hair, his focus completely on her hair but it didn't take long for his eyes to wander down her body. He watched as the bubbles from the shampoo dripped off her hair and then rode the water down her curves. Vaughn hated thinking about other guys looking at his girl the way he did, so he was glad when Daph didn't feel much like talking about her night. Probably meant that something happened that she didn't want him to know about, considering how chatty she was about work on other nights when shit didn't happen, but he didn't care right now. He was the one who shared a bed with her every night.

Once Daph gave him the go ahead, he wasted no time. Vaughn closed the gap between them and feverishly pulled her in for a kiss. One of his hands worked its way back into her hair as his other hand made its way down to her hourglass hips. His hand then wrapped around the back of her leg and pulled it up until she caught on and rest her foot on the tub ledge so he could have better access to between her legs...

[FADE TO BLACK]

After their shower romp, they moved to the bedroom for an encore performance before finally falling asleep. When Vaughn woke up, naked and snuggled up next to the love of his life, it was almost enough to make him ignore the pounding headache creeping up on him. Almost. As gracefully as he could, he crawled out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Kicking a towel and his pants out of his way as he passed, he opened the medicine cabinet and searched for something to help him. He fumbled with a few bottles before finding some aspirin and bending down to chug them down with water directly from the faucet. When he'd made his way back into the bedroom, Daphne was already awake and staring at him.

"Good morning, beautiful... I didn't make a total ass out of myself last night, right?" he asked with a nervous chuckle. He liked to think he remembered a lot of the night but there were definitely a lot of blurs in his memory. The night had ended in sex and cuddling so clearly, he hadn't fucked up too bad if he had. Still never hurt to double check if there was any groveling that he needed to do.

Daphne Owens 08-08-2022 12:13 AM

Daphne immediately felt a shift next to her when Vaughn moved away and got out of bed. She whined, rolling over and watched as he left their bedroom. Daphne kept her eyes fixated on the door until he arrived back in all his glory. “Hi,” she murmured, rubbing her face in her pillow before holding open her arms and making the grabby motion with her hands. When he finally snuggled back up to her, Daphne shook her and rolled over, resting her head on his chest. “You were great,” she tiredly answered. “You were royally fucked up, but nothing I couldn't handle,” Daphne added, lifting her head to look at him with a grin.

“You feeling okay?” Daphne asked with a tone of concern. “Are you hungry? I can make you breakfast if you are.” Daphne could go overboard when caring for the people she loved most, especially Vaughn. They had two very different upbringings, but in many ways, they were still the same. Other than the girls at the club, Vaughn was the only family she had. She pressed a few kisses against his cheeks and lips before pulling away entirely and getting out of bed.

Daphne grabbed her satin robe off the back of the door, slipped it on, and tied it closed. She then started to rummage through one of the laundry baskets of clean clothes, looking for a pair of shorts for Vaughn. She tossed it over to him, “C’mon, I want a cigarette and some coffee,” she announced before turning around and exiting their bedroom, expecting Vaughn to be in tow.

Once downstairs, she prepared a new pot of coffee and put a few pieces of bread in the toaster for Vaughn before grabbing her pack of cigarettes and heading outside. She’d just lit up her cigarette when Vaughn stepped out onto the porch with her. “I meant to ask you,” she pulled her cigarette out and blew out smoke before continuing, “where the fuck is your car?” Daphne questioned. Not at all mad, just concerned he may have left it somewhere and forgot. “You came home in an Uber last night.”

Vaughn Owens 08-13-2022 12:36 AM

Vaughn already had a hard enough time getting out of the bed the first time but there was no way he could resist cuddling up to her for a little longer, so he crawled back into bed and took her into his arms. When she finally rested her head on his chest, he placed a kiss on the top of her head before tucking her hair behind her ear so he could see her face even better. "Good... And my head is killin' but other than that, no complaints." Whenever he held her in his arms, it was hard for him to think about much of anything except for her. How soft her skin and hair were, how fucking cute she was when she looked up at him with those doe eyes, and how absolutely in love he was with her. Nothing could phase him as long as he had her by his side. "You spoil me, babe. Bacon, eggs, and toast, please?" he politely requested. Flashing her a smile and giving her a quick squeeze when she agreed.

Once she crawled away from him, Vaughn placed his hands behind his head and admired every inch of her before she covered herself. It was enough to wake up his manhood, an affect she so often had on him - especially when she was naked. He debated pulling her back into bed for some morning sex but the grumble from his stomach and Daphne throwing shorts at him stopped those thoughts in their tracks. "Yeah, be there in a sec..." Vaughn didn't even bother finishing once he realized that she'd already left the room. Giving his member a moment to relax before pulling on his shorts and climbing out of bed, he fumbled into the bathroom again to look for his cigs in his pants. 'Shit.' They were empty.

Finding his cracked phone, Vaughn remembered what happened and how it could easily be causing him all sorts of problems with his business right now. Making a mental note to stop by a store to get a replacement asap, Vaughn finally made his way downstairs and outside to join Daphne. Snagging a cig from her pack and borrowing her lighter, he lit it up and inhaled deeply, closing his eyes and lifting his chin as he did. 'My car? Fuck.' Another thing to add to his list of fuck ups that last night Vaughn had left for future Vaughn. Letting the smoke escape as he looked over at Daphne, "Shit. Yeah. It's either at... Mitchell's or... uh... the Matchbox. Maybe Everett will remember. Either way, I'll figure it out."

Wanting to find something else to talk about other than all the messes that he was going to have to clean up today, he took another drag before bringing the focus to her. "So, tell me. How was your night? Other than dealing with my dumbass self, of course." he asked with a wink. The look of irritation on her face made him question if that was the right direction to try and steer the conversation though. "Wait... did you already tell me? I'm sorry babe. I totally can't remember." Did something happen? He was pretty sure that if she had told him that something happened, he'd remember it.

Daphne Owens 08-13-2022 11:40 PM

Daphne smiled in adoration when Vaughn kissed her head and tucked her hair behind her ear. She loved when he did little things like that; they were cute and unexpected. Listening, she outlined one of the many tattoos on his chest. “I love you...” she quickly shifted one of her hands underneath her chin so she could get a better look at him, “And as corny as it sounds, I plan on spoiling you for the rest of our lives. So, get used to it,” Daphne admitted. While their engagement wasn't precisely Instagram-worthy since they'd been screaming at each other for an hour before, and he didn't have a ring at the time, Daphne couldn't imagine spending her life with anyone else.

She rolled her eyes at Vaughn while taking another drag of her cigarette when he mentioned the places he'd been last night. “Yeah, but with what phone?” Daphne said with a smirk and smoke escaping from her mouth. She was only giving him a hard time. Her demeanor quickly changed when he asked about her night. Okay, honestly, Daphne was hoping she could move on from last night’s incident, but that's not how the universe intended it to be.

Daphne's face always said everything, even when she didn't want to. “No. You're fine,” her voice cracked. “It's just...” she took a deep breath before exhaling. Her gaze wandered while she thought about how to word this without having Vaughn go completely postal afterward. “Let’s just say it's a good thing you don't have a car right now,” she mumbled as she got up from her seat and moved towards him. “I'm telling you this because it's better to hear it from me than someone else,” Daphne added. She hesitantly began explaining her night and what happened to her when she and Sasha were leaving, “There was a guy that'd been in the club heavily drinking and was outside when we were walking to the car. Then he tried to, you know,” she tried to spare Vaughn from the nasty details. “It all happened so fast, and before I knew it, one of the security guards outside smoking ran over and pulled him off,” as she spoke, she chose to look everywhere but Vaughn's face.

When she finally looked at him, it was far worse than she anticipated, “All right, so, I'm going to need you to put your veins away and like smoke a blunt,” she tried to make light of the situation even though it was hard to downplay. At least she wasn't the cause for his protruding veins. She closed the already small space between them, “Calm down, please,” she begged in a whisper. “I'm okay. I promise,” Daphne tried to assure him.

Having a baby can either fracture a relationship or forge a stronger bond, and in the case of Daphne and Vaughn, it truly brought them closer together. The arrival of their daughter, Christina, catalysed a remarkable transformation in Vaughn, who stepped up in ways that Daphne had never anticipated.

Their relationship had always been tumultuous, marked by ups and downs, but a fierce love anchored them beneath the chaos. They were two imperfect souls navigating the complexities of parenthood, yet their commitment to one another was undeniable.

With Christina’s birth, their focus shifted. More than anything, they wanted to create a warm and nurturing environment for her, a stark contrast to the childhoods they both experienced—filled with neglect and struggle. They envisioned a life for Christina that was vibrant, filled with love, laughter, and the joyful memories they had longed for themselves. In that shared aspiration, they found a renewed purpose and a deeper connection, determined to break the cycle of pain that had defined their pasts.

Weeks had slipped by since they had hit the six-week milestone, and Daphne could sense the tension building in Vaughn. She could see how his eyes flickered with anticipation, the unspoken question lingering on his tongue—would they finally take that leap and sleep together? Yet, despite the obvious desire, he hadn’t pushed the issue. Each gentle gesture and word of encouragement from him reassured her that he was truly there for her and their daughter, too. Daphne felt a deep appreciation for his selflessness, realising that this was everything she had ever wished for in a partner. Now, the weight of their patience and understanding was about to transform into something beautifully intimate, a reward for their journey together.

Daphne had been grappling with her self-esteem and body image ever since she welcomed her daughter, Christina, into the world. The changes her body underwent during pregnancy and childbirth left her feeling vulnerable and uncertain. Despite Vaughn's constant encouragement and heartfelt declarations that he adored her curves, she often found herself wrestling with a nagging self-consciousness that shadowed her daily life. In moments when she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, doubts spiralled through her mind, overshadowing the compliments and love she received from Vaughn.

Today marked a turning point for her; it was the first time she didn’t feel completely hideous. She dedicated herself to her appearance, carefully styling her hair and pinning it up. Each stroke of makeup was deliberate; she applied a hint of blush to warm her cheeks and accentuated her eyes with just the right amount of eyeliner and mascara to make them pop. Afterwards, she rummaged through her wardrobe, finally settling on an outfit that hugged her curves in all the right places, one Vaughn would surely find irresistible. Anticipating his reaction gave her a newfound confidence she hadn't felt in a long time.

As the clock inched past midnight, a familiar ping echoed through the quiet room—Vaughn’s text arrived, notifying her that he would be home soon. Excitement fluttered in her chest as she quickly lowered the overhead light's brightness, allowing the flames scattered across the living room to cast a warm, romantic glow. The soft amber light danced playfully on the walls, enhancing the cosy ambience she had created. She carefully poured his favourite whisky into a glass, letting the rich, golden liquid swirl before settling on the table beside her. After ensuring everything was right, she nestled into the couch, her pulse quickening as she prepared to welcome him home.

Vaughn Owens 03-29-2025 09:15 PM

Vaughn stepped out of the bar, the heavy door creaking on its hinges as he emerged into the cool embrace of the Chicago night. The air was laced with the faint scent of rain, and puddles shimmered under the glow of flickering streetlights, casting a golden hue on the slick pavement. He lit a cigarette, the tip glowing bright orange as he took a deep drag, letting the smoke curl around him like a hesitant ghost.

His eyes darted back and forth, scanning the dimly lit street for any sign of police. Shadows flickered along the edges of alleyways and doorways, where a few passersby lingered, lost in their own worlds. Vaughn’s heart raced slightly as he felt the pulse of the city around him—the distant hum of traffic, the echo of laughter, and the occasional siren wailing like a lost soul. He stood there, half-hidden in the shadows, watching and waiting, a figure poised on the edge of the night’s unpredictable drama.

Moments later, a twenty-something frat boy swaggered out of the bar, searching for Vaughn with a casual confidence. Letting out a sharp whistle to grab the kid's attention, Vaughn shot him a look that clearly said, "play it cool." Vaughn calmly reached into his pocket, pulled out a small bag of cocaine, and flashed it at the kid, firmly stating, "Show me the cash." Upon seeing the kids' cash, he nodded decisively. They joined hands to finalize the exchange, using their other hands to protect the deal from onlookers with a confident half-hug.

"Catch you later, bro. Have a good night," Vaughn said, a relaxed smile spreading across his face. He pulled the hood of his jacket up, shrouding his features in shadow as he stepped onto the dimly lit street. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed aside his half-finished cigarette. It tumbled through the cool evening air before landing on the pavement. He stepped on it with the heel of his shoe, extinguishing the glowing embers that flickered for a moment before fading into darkness.

Vaughn glanced up and surveyed the street, its yellowed lights casting a warm glow on the wet asphalt. He raised his hand, fingers splayed out, to hail a cab that was just coming around the corner. The faint roar of the tires against the pavement echoed in the stillness of the night as he stood ready, anticipation stirring in his chest. He couldn't wait to get home to his beautiful wife and daughter.

Fifteen minutes later, Vaughn turned the key in the deadbolt with a decisive click, stepping into the hushed embrace of their home. The stillness enveloped him, hinting that Christina was likely still cocooned under the covers, lost in sleep. However, if the reality was different—if she was awake and wrestling with insomnia—he moved purposefully through the quiet sanctuary, making sure his footsteps were silent on the polished wooden floors.

As he ventured further inside, his eyes caught sight of Daphne. She was striking, dressed to the nines, a few strands of hair cascading in soft waves that framed her face perfectly. On the table, a glass of his favorite whiskey gleamed under the soft light—its amber liquid swirling enticingly as if beckoning him to join her. In that moment, Vaughn felt a surge of understanding; her intentions were clear, and there was no denying the charged atmosphere that hung between them.

His eyes sparkled with a mixture of delight and curiosity, revealing a flicker of hope that perhaps he would finally receive what he had been longing for all this time. “Why hello there, gorgeous,” he said, his voice a low, inviting tone that seemed to dance through the air. He discarded his jacket with a casual flick, letting it drape over the arm of the plush couch as he settled in beside her. The warmth of the room wrapped around them, but it was the magnetic pull between them that truly ignited the moment. He leaned slightly closer, his gaze lingering on her face, searching for the signs of connection that he yearned for.

Daphne exuded a natural warmth; her gaze intensely focused on Vaughn as she observed the subtle nuances of his movements. Her heart danced with a thrilling flutter when he finally settled beside her, filling the space with an exhilarating tension. With a fluid motion, she shifted her body towards him, creating an intimate cocoon, inviting him to step into her world, where closeness felt electrifying and safe. "We have the house to ourselves," she whispered, her voice a soft, alluring murmur as her finger traced the defined contours of Vaughn's jawline. The light pressure of her touch ignited.

Daphne gracefully lifted herself from her seat, mindful of their growing tension. With a fluid elegance that seemed almost effortless, she reached for the exquisitely crafted drink resting on the table, its glass shimmering like a jewel in the soft, dim light of the room. As she presented it to him, her smile radiated warmth and mischief, hinting at countless adventures waiting to unfold. When the music shuffled, the gentle, sultry strains of Avan's "Sweat" began filling the room.

Though it had been months since she had danced, the moment the music enveloped her, Daphne felt a wave of recognition sweep over her; her body, as if awakening from a long slumber, began to sway instinctively. Positioned before him, she radiated quiet confidence, the dim lighting casting a golden hue over her curves that accentuated her movement. Each deliberate sway of her hips was fluid and hypnotic, drawing him closer like an irresistible tide. Her arms swept gracefully through the air, tracing invisible patterns as she danced, her eyes locked onto him with magnetic intensity.

Daphne didn't take long to feel the warm brush of Vaughn’s fingertips against her skin—delicate and tentative, like a whisper that carried the weight of unspoken desires. His touch felt reverent, as if he were cherishing something sacred between them, imbued with a softness that quickened her pulse. The gentle hesitation in his movements only heightened the electric tension in the air, thickening with every beat of music and shared breath.

She watched him closely, a flicker of delight dancing in her eyes as she noted the uncertainty in his gestures. She would have playfully swatted away his hand in the past, unwilling to be touched while she danced, but everything had shifted now. Today, she welcomed his tentative touch, craving the connection that came with it.

There was an undeniable change in her response—a softness, a vulnerability that she hadn't realised was waiting to be acknowledged. Daphne discovered a deep longing for Vaughn's touch, an aching desire for the quiet intimacy that the warmth of his hand against her skin ignited. It awakened a hunger deep within her that had lain dormant, yearning for the assurance of connection after a transition.

Daphne took a slow step forward, then another, until she stood directly before him. From her height, she seemed to tower over him, her silhouette bathed in the warm glow of the lighting. Vaughn sat still on the couch, his posture relaxed, but his eyes followed her every move, hungry for her presence.

With a gentle hand, she reached out, tucking a strand of his tousled blonde hair behind his ear. Her fingers lingered, brushing along his temple and down the sharp line of his jaw. She paused, taking him in. The striking angles of his face, the small furrow in his brow that always deepened when he was lost in thought, the familiar softness in his gaze when he looked at her. He was breathtaking. Strong but still open with her, he was beautiful in a way that stopped her breath, and he was hers.

“I’ve missed you,” she whispered. Her fingertips glided over his cheekbones, memorising him all over again. “I’m sorry if you’ve felt neglected the last few weeks, she murmured, eyes searching his for a flicker of relief. “I didn’t mean to.” Her touch stilled on his face, and for a moment, all that existed was the silence between them, thick, vulnerable, and aching with love.

Vaughn’s eyes remained fixated on Daphne, his breath catching in his throat as he took in her stunning presence. She had always intrigued him, but tonight she seemed to radiate an irresistible beauty that left him spellbound. The shimmering fabric of her dress glimmered under the soft glow of the dim lights, accentuating the graceful lines of her figure and drawing attention to the delicate curve of her waist that he could wait to get his hands on.

As she shifted closer, the intoxicating scent of her perfume enveloped him, stirring something deep within. With an almost magnetic pull, Vaughn felt his hand glide over to her thigh, the warmth of her skin beneath his fingers sending a rush of electricity through him. He could sense the subtle rise and fall of her breath, each inhale seeming to draw him nearer into her orbit. Feeling a pang of anxiety about spoiling the intimacy of the moment, he slowly withdrew his hand, watching intently as she gracefully stood up.

"Thank you, baby," he said, a warm smile spreading across his face as he accepted the glass from her delicate hands. He lifted the whiskey to his lips, savoring the rich aroma before taking a generous swig. As the smooth liquid slid down his throat, he closed his eyes, relishing the comforting warmth it brought. When he finally opened his eyes, he was captivated by the sight of Daphne, her body swaying gently to the rhythm of the music, each subtle movement embodying the carefree spirit of the moment.

His eyes roamed over her with keen intensity as she moved gracefully, captivating him with each elegant twist and turn. Taking a deep swig of his drink, he savored the taste before leaning down to set the glass on the polished side table, the cool surface grounding him momentarily. As he shifted back to his previous position, he leaned forward slightly, his body drawn to her like a moth to a flame. His hands hovered near her, brushing against her skin just barely, sending a thrill of anticipation coursing through the air between them; each subtle touch was both electrifying and teasing.

He observed her intently, his gaze fixed on her every subtle movement, searching for that unmistakable sign—a flicker in her eyes, a slight smile, or a gentle nod—that would confirm her desire for what lay ahead. An electric tension hung in the air between them, and despite his growing conviction about the direction this moment was taking, he couldn’t shake off the shadows of doubt that had crept in during past encounters. Past mistakes loomed in his memory like ghosts, reminding him that certainty was not always a guarantee.

He gazed up at her, his eyes tracing the contours of her face as she observed him in return. It was the same way he had been studying her, appreciating every subtle detail—the way her hair fell softly around her face and the warmth in her smile. In that moment, a connection sparked between them, each lost in the other's presence. His fingers no longer gliding along her thighs, his hands fully latched onto her legs, applying a subtle enough pressure to let her know how badly he wanted her yet he was holding himself back.

Her whispers wrapped around him like a soft melody, filling the air with warmth. "I've missed you too," he murmured, her voice low and soothing. "Don’t worry about that; it's all behind us now. I'm focused on this moment, on you, on how sexy you are." His eyes looked her up once and down before allowing one hand to make it's way up under her dress to give her ass a quick slap. "There, now you're forgiven, you naughty girl," he joked with an enticing wink.

Daphne’s breath hitched at the sting of his playful slap, a flicker of surprise lighting up her features before it melted into a sultry smile. Her body responded before her words did, leaning ever so slightly into his touch as if inviting more. The fabric of her dress shifted with the motion, revealing just a hint more of the smooth skin he’d already tasted with his fingers like a promise whispered in the dark.

She met his gaze with a slow-burning intensity, the corners of her lips curling into something equal parts amused and aroused. Her eyes, dark and glinting with mischief, flicked downward to where his hand lingered—possessive, bold, and just restrained enough to drive her wild. She loved this side of Vaughn—the confident tease, the man who knew exactly how to stir her senses with a look, a touch, a perfectly timed line that blended heart with humour.

Sliding a hand up his chest, her nails grazing lightly over the fabric of his shirt, she leaned in close, her lips brushing the shell of his ear as her breath danced across his skin. “Is that how you forgive me?” she murmured, her voice a low purr that vibrated between them. “Because if that’s the case, I might have to keep misbehaving.”

Her words lingered like the sweet and intoxicating perfume he couldn’t get enough of. The rhythm of the music pulsed in the background, but neither of them was truly aware of it anymore—the real rhythm was the push and pull between their bodies, the way their energy collided in electric waves. Vaughn’s restraint was evident, but beneath it, the unmistakable heat of desire was coiled tight and waiting to unravel.

As she straddled his lap with slow, deliberate ease, her hands found his shoulders, grounding herself as she leaned in to capture his mouth in a kiss—soft at first, then deeper, more demanding. It was a kiss filled with memory and promise, forgiveness and fire. The past may have haunted them, but in that moment, it burned away, leaving only now—only them.

Daphne’s breath caught as she continued to hover over Vaughn. His eyes locked onto hers like she was the only thing tethering him to this world—and maybe she was. The weight of his gaze alone made her feel completely, achingly seen.

She ran her hands slowly up his chest, savouring the feeling of muscle shifting beneath her fingertips, his heartbeat drumming wild under her touch. “That’s more like it,” she whispered, voice velvet-soft but thick with want. She leaned up, capturing his bottom lip between hers, nibbling just enough to make him groan—a low, guttural sound that sent a pulse of heat straight through her.

Then she rolled her hips beneath him, deliberately slow, drawing a sharp breath from his throat.

“You always did have this… habit of trying to play it cool,” she teased, eyes flashing with playful heat. Her fingers tangled in the back of his shirt, pulling him closer until there was no space between them. “But you’re not cool right now, Vaughn. You’re burning. Just like me.”

Her words hung heavy in the air, laced with truth. This wasn’t just lust; it was tension wound too tight from time, from distance, from everything unsaid. She felt the years in how he touched her—like he was trying to memorise her all over again.

Her hands slid under his shirt, skin meeting skin, and she sighed at his warmth and strength. She pushed the fabric up, exposing the curve of his torso to the soft, flickering light in the room, then leaned forward, pressing a kiss just below his collarbone. Another. Then another. Slow, sensual, each one deliberate.

“Tell me you want this,” she whispered, her voice a delicate mix of warmth and authority, her breath grazing the sensitive skin of his neck. “Not just in this moment, but every part of me. The chaos, the passion, the imperfections… all of it.” Daphne’s insecurities slipped out, but she sought reassurance from her husband.

Her hands stilled against his skin. “Show me,” she said, her voice no louder than a breath. “Or stop me.”
