Midnights

On the edge of town where the pavement gives way to wider open space. The field sits low, surrounded by chain-link fencing, with metal bleachers that heat up in the sun and cool fast at night.
There are two main fields:
• a baseball diamond with a dirt infield
• a multipurpose field for soccer and events
A small concession stand sits between them—white paint, sliding window, handwritten menu board that changes depending on who’s volunteering.
The parking lot is gravel, and on busy days it fills unevenly with trucks, SUVs, and the occasional older sedan.
At dusk, the field lights flick on one by one, casting that familiar bright glow that makes everything feel like it’s happening in its own contained world.
Atmosphere:
community-centered, familiar, quietly emotional at the edges
